Jock was helping me remove my top water pipe today in order to replace the two short rubber pipes connecting it to the engine (one of 'em is split :( ) This requires the removal of three bolts using a long reach hex tool.

The first one we tried (top right) has sheared the inside of the hex slot making it impossible to turn  Have since tried a couple of ideas but without success... Finally ran out of time today and I had to leave the car on Jock's drive

Have removed the fan shroud and the rad to give as much room to work as possible but it's very difficult to get anything in there to work with..

Does anyone have any ideas how to get this bolt out? We've considered drilling it but even that is very difficult and we're worried about the quality of the the resultant seal under pressure..

Big thanks to Jock for all his help and patience today

Any help and advice very much appreciated. Can take some pics tomorrow if required..

The only options I can think of would be if you have use of a little portable welder, weld an old allen key to the bolt the heat will then help remove it! or drill the head off the bolt, get the other bolts out and the water pipe off, put sum heat on the bolt with a little blow torch and remove with a pair of mole grips

Thanks for the reply mate! Managed to get it off with some help from AndrewG and an amazing set of tools designed specifically for removing sheared bolts... I think Andrew is going to post a pic of the offending item

As someone who collects tools (much to mrs jock's disdain) I would heartily recommend a set of these to be added to your garage, am contacting the guy as we speak :)

Problem with those bolts is that they're tighter than **** ! I sheared off the end of my best Facom allen key before I managed to get he bolt undone ! That is not supposed to happen !!!!! :(

The tool I used was the Craftsman Bolt-Out™ Damaged Bolt/Nut Remover. It comes in various sets. I got the 13 pc set from a US vendor on Ebay. You can see product details here:

http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=TOOL&pid=00952162000&bidsite=CRAFT

At the time I couldn't find a supplier in the UK and Sears don't ship overseas - hence Ebay.

Do you know of any UK suppliers now?

Nope - as far as I can tell Craftsman tools are exclusive to Sears.
