I have an new toy........

I bought an on board tyre pressure thing. It tells you what your current pressure is, temperature, and calculates what the pressure should be and taking into account the temperature.

It is good, already it has detected a leaking value and one of my rears with too much air.

Cost £140 including fitting, which I think is good value. I have seen some places who are selling it for £250 not including fitting.

Doesn,t tell you your wheel nuts are missing then??? wink.gif

JEZ

Where d'you get it? Is this the same as Johnny mentioned the other day ?

  • Author

No Jez it dont tell you if your wheel is about to drop off. It will tell you that your wheel is missing though. If you leave it behind anywhere it will beep to tell you that no signal is coming from that wheel. Cos it will be out of range. Hehehehehe.

Little b@stards.

Andy I got it from Pemberton tyres near where I live. Not seen anything about what Johnny said I will try and look

Stuart

Stuart, good bit of kit those, i only found out about them AFTER i had to pay £250 for 1 new tyre, driving round very underflated on 35 profile 18s, got a catalogue somewhere on them, cos they do a few options, but your price is very good, Smithy

Smartire make it http://www.smartire.co.uk

It is good, I have programmed it to show a warning if the tyre pressure drops 3psi. I think I have a leaking value becuae my front left keeps losing about 3 psi then stopping at 30. If so its helped already.

Stuart.

Hi ya,

How are the wheel sensors held on (insidd ht wheels), by metal bands or by some other means?

sounds likes a great toy...

  • Author

Yeah, metal bands hold the tyre sensors in place.

There is also a counter weight on the other side of the sensor so not to knock the balancing out.

What is the expected battery life of the sender in the wheels? I don't suppose this would be a problem for the rear wheels, since ZX must mean 'Tire Shreader' in Japenese or something. But fronts dont go so regularly.

The website didnt make any mention of a power source for the sensors.

Simon.
