French legend Marcel Desailly's football career is over after an amazing six letter outburst directed at TV pundit Big 'Ron' Atkinson.

The Chelsea centre back stunned ITV viewers with a tirade against Atkinson during Tuesday night's live coverage of his side's Champions league semi-final defeat in Monaco.

With the game slipping away from Chelsea in the second half, Desailly was clearly seen to mouth a derogatory statement about Atkinson.

Although this is a family-oriented website, we have decided to publish that tirade in full.

Desailly called Atkinson 'Cheap Orange Trash' and a 'Fake Tan Chunky Boy' before laying out Fernando Morientes with a casually misplaced elbow to the head.

Pressure groups were last night up in arms over Desailly's comments: The South Florida Orange Growers' Association called the outburst 'A blatant attempt to demonise all things orangey' and a spokesperson for Outspan added that 'This was fruitism of the very worst kind which leaves a nasty taste in the mouth, unlike our consistently juicy and delicious products.'

Atkinson himself was unavailable for comment as he was holed up in a tanning booth with six kilos of jewellery and a karaoke machine.

But a contrite Desailly issued the following statement: "I made a stupid statement which I regret. It left me no option but to resign. At the moment I can't believe I did it. It was just a moment of stupidity."

"I was very frustrated during the game because I thought Cheslea could have won. I regret making the comments and I apologise to anyone I may have offended. If you look at my track record as a player, I was one of the first in the game to give oranges a chance, especially at half time."

Desailly's manager, Claudio Ranieri, confirmed that he had received a letter of resignation from Marcel.

It is understood that he then turned it into a plane and then a hat and then a paper chain.

Good one - very funny !

But have you ever noticed how it's a one-way street on this sort of stuff ?

every day!... it begs the question why is there no white policemans organisation?

reminds me of a story my welsh mate who's brother is a copper in Cardiff.. He asked to join the Black policemans organisation and he was laughed at.. he couldn't join as he wasn't an 'ethnic minority' which he then said was a racist policy, so he asked if he could join the White policemans organisation and if there wasn't one, why wasn't there one... and with all sincerity the senior black policeman answered a white policemans organisation would be racist!

lmfao

oooh! a little bit o' politics there!

Same with 'Clubs'. If you have a 'Gentlemens' club then that is sexist, but clubs for women are fine. It's a crazy facked up world  :slap:

Anyone who thinks calling a black person that word, or even using it in everyday conversation shows a total lack of knowlede about where it comes from and what it means to a black person, and is plainly racist or very stupid.

When have we white fellers, as a race ever, had it really BAD or been enslaved, apart from by our wives or girlfriends.

Bloody daily mail readers, we'll be on about immigration next.

This will no doubt get modded BUT

The word nigger, is used by my Black (their word not mine) mates as a term of reference to each other not the origin of the word from Negro or slave! In a way they have turned the word around from a negative to a positive. I use the word to refer to them face to face because they want me too and they dont think I'm being racist. Of course I wouldnt use it to anyone i DIDNT KNOW. Was Ron wrong? Maybe, is he racist, maybe, if the player concerned had been ginger would calling him a ginger tossing ******* have had the same result? I doubt it.

Ive been out with black, asian and chinese girls so I dont think I'm racist either!

Now maybe in Exeter the KKK is rife but in civilisation I wish people would stop this nonsense. By using the race card you are being racist, FFS they are NOT bothered but so called do gooders are and as such encite the situation.

Anyway this was a joke intended I presume to show what a crock all this is, but hey some people!

So if I came up to your friends and called them it, they wouldn't mind? Even in good humour?

The tone in which Big Ron said the remark was not in good humour so was intended as an insult.

It'd be nice to call anyone anything I like and they wouldn't be offended but that doesn't happen. Yep in an ideal world that word would mean nothing offensive and be part of the language, but it isn't at the moment.

I don't think this is a PC issue or race card issue, it's not good not to call someone something that is generally considered extremely offensive. Maybe you can call some old people you know doddery old incontinent coffin dodgers and they wouldn't be bothered, but to most it would be offensive.

Lets face it, some people in football crowds aren't that bright (offensive sweeping statement there), went to a home game at the start of the season, and we had a new Islamic player. He was booed every time he touched the ball. What Ron did played to that minority and it was right he should have resigned.

I am against quotas for ethnic minorites at work and politics. We have corperate graphics here at work which are supposed to represent us, there's not a white person there, well there is, but he as at the back and gay. I'm no left wing wet, peace and love hippy, but can see that using that word to refer to a black person is not on, unless you have exceptional circumstances, like you obviously do Roy.

Cheers,

Matt.

I'm not condoning Ron's actions, my point is that the word nigger or more used nigga doesnt mean to a young black man the same as it does to you. Yes, I can use it to certain friends "as a personal term" because they allow me too. Mainly due to Hip Hop use its meaning has changed. I dont like the word racist, I think prejudice is better, we all are to a certain extent, we all judge books by their cover BUT some seem to be insistent on keeping prejudice at the forefront. We are all human and colour really doesnt matter. Well at least it doesnt to my black friends or me.

I'm not having a go, I just wish people who moan about racism actually ask the people who are supposed to be offended by it! I think they would be suprised by the answers they got!

Signed Honkie!

The word "nigger" was not the insult , the insulting part was "stupid, lazy..." or whatever he said.

He probably only (very stupidly in this PC day and age) tagged the word on the end its was a distinguishing feature like, short, fat, tall, ginger, whatever. Unfortunately he chose the wrong word... FFS You cant even point out a black person in a bar/whereever without wondering what to say as some :xxx: will think even refering to black people as "black" is racist  :xxx:

Agree. It's a bloody complicated issue, but I've always believed that actions speak louder than words, no matter what those words are. Do you recall last year I think it was, when someone was 'all up in arms' over the word JAP?

Come on Pete, there's a distinction between going to a bar and saying "look at that N***** over there!" and "black guy".

Anyway this was a joke intended I presume to show what a crock all this is, but hey some people!

Here here BigRoy

I understand where ya coming from and I also understand you posted an intended joke!

Too many peeps read into stuff where race is concerned. You can tell when a person makes a racist comment and when they are speaking in jest (and im not refering to Mr Atkinson at all.. bit of a dickhead remark for a man in his position to make..) I personally am very happy to live in a multi-cultural society of tolerance... so long as each respect the other EQUALLY.

RELAX MON... Dis is de year 2K4!

Well i hope it never goes out of fashion to shout abuse at short footballers. Im not letting Dennis Wise off that easily.

The word "nigger" was not the insult , the insulting part was "stupid, lazy..." or whatever he said.

is that for real :slap:

Come on Pete, there's a distinction between going to a bar and saying "look at that N***** over there!" and "black guy".

'course there is :slap: That was a general comment about the state of the country and the PC brigade, not to do with the word N*****...

Ok, in afro-caribbean youth culture (particularly American culture) the word has lost some of it's pejorative nature and is taken as a form of quasi filial affirmation much like the term "brother" in the seventies. However it is still considered offensive, and rightly so due to it's history, when used outside this context. You have to take into consideration who is saying it and why. Without context any arguements as to whether the word is abusive or not are futile! Blimey, that got a bit wordy didn't it! :)

Leigh.

i agree with both sides of the coin here

(no splinters up me arse lol)

the word N***** is at times offensive depending how it's used

talking to your mates and you say

here comes a N***** IS offensive

whereas a black guy will greet his mate with "whats up nigga" as a greeting

the black population themselves have actually made the word more acceptable, if you were talking about footie with your mates including a couple of black guys, would you ask them the question, should that n*****

James be playing for england??

personally id deffo feel uncomfortable using the word in whatever context, but i guess thats the way ive been brought up

as asroma points out it's obvious when a comment is racist

on the other side of the coin, this p.c. has gone completely ott

no gollywogs on jars, a white mp decided that, no blackboards in schools,

a white minister for education decided that, shit its like saying we cant argue on here whether a black z is better than a white one,

as for atkinson he was a prick before he made the comments, only good thing he did was stay at utd so long to stop 'em winning anything apart from a cup :p

lol while i was typing all that friday said near enough what i tried in less words lmao

I was listening to a radio debate on this subject.........

One white guy, one black guy and the host.........

Both were asked to give there opinions.......

Then it was a back and forth discussion......

The white guy said that his 'coloured' friend (as soon as he said coloured the black guy took offence) and the white guy said well what should I call you.....he said "Martin.......not, black, coloured or nigger......but Martin"

That for me sums it up.......It's not about the shade of your skin, we are all people and have names...

I moan at my mates and call them names when it deserves it, I don't call Mick 'white trash' cause he's white, or Devon 'nigger' cause he's black.....they both get called all sorts along the lines of w@nker, cnut or whatever........and they don't call me names without any reference to colour or creed, why should they.........

What has made this whole thing really bad is the PC brigade, it's pathetic! The more they make of it the worse it will become, it's like religon......THE worst invention ever!! (Don't get me started on religon!!)

...people are people and you should treat them as such and should treat them the way they treat you......nothing more nothing less.

My 2p worth, might not be right but that's the way it is for me......

Matty.

lol while i was typing all that friday said near enough what i tried in less words lmao

Was having a rare brush with clarity and reality...think the pills the nice nurse gave me must be working...it won't last!

All good, but Matty my point is that merely saying "that black guy over there...etc" is not racist FFS... Its the same as saying "that blond haired guy...","that tall guy..."

Its the people who draw the racist card all the time who piss me off, I for one do not think any differently of any colour, religion, whatever but its pointless denying the distinguishing features when eg pointing someone out across a bar. That implies theres some sort of "stepping on eggshells" around how to describe a person, which there shouldn't be. These race-card-PC-morons must constantly be holding themselves back from accidentally mentioning the words black, yellow, etc

Not condoning the word ni99er btw, I've never used it, and wouldnt. Big Ron probably uses it all the time and thinks its acceptable and thats why he said it. But his point was that Desailly was lazy...
