After buying my z Im really happy with it,BUT,only thing I'm personally not to keen on is the colour ( midnight blue ).

The cars in perfect nick, and am in 2 minds wether to sell the car and buy another,or get this one painted a few shades lighter metallic blue.

I know prospective buyers in the future may not like the fact that its been resprayed a different colour, but that aside, how much do you think it would be for a ' blow over ' ,theres no dents etc on car,but would like door checks done ( obviously ) but not under bonnet/boot etc etc.

What would be a reasonable cost all in for a quick rub down, tape up and spray ?

Cheers

If you dont have a proper job done then you will devalue the car as it will seem like its been bashed and fixed on the cheap.....

Rob if your cars in that good a nick then I have a good friend who is VERY good with a paint-gun and runs his business Near Clacton in Essex. Hes worked on some fine cars but nowadays as he can pick and chose his work more he tends to lean towards giving very good prices if theres no welding or too much actual bodywork to do. Ive had a few Jap imports where the paints just a bit tired or Ive fancied a colour change but the bodywork has been sound and hes not charged much to do the whole lot, sills, shuts etc.

If you are this end of the country I can give you his number.

... think he charged me £700 for a colour change on a near perfect MR2 once. Unfortunately though usually with paintshops you get what you pay for and those £250 "blow-overs" you see advertised in the back of Autotrader etc are real low quality jobs usually to tart up or mask crap on an older car.

Rob,

I think you'll do well to find a lighter shade of blue to buy - I don't think there are any other blues other than ones that have been re-painted in something like Bayside. Stu/Cerina maybe able to help here, since Cerina's car is a nice light blue - apart form that I've only ever seen one other, and that was definitely sprayed.

I think if you've found a sound Z that you're happy with anyway, you're taking a risk if you invest in another IMO! :D

Just a thought ...

CheerZ,

JB.

light blue all the way! i have seen pics of cerinas and saw marks at the midlands meet last month, his is a beauty! seen one even lighter blue in leicester which jus looks stunning

Maybe if you do get it done, take date recorded 'before and after' pics so you can show the next buyer it wasn't damaged.

Thats what Ive done in the past, its a good idea.

There is a midnight blue and also a blue pearl graphite, (sometimes called Saphire Blue), colour code TK3, which is what mine, PaulC's and AndrewG's are - a fairly rare and beautiful colour ! ;)
