Yesterday I started to hear a clunk noise from the back right when ever I let go of the accelerator. Shit! I bet the axel is going or the bearings or something. It cant be a loose wheel because I had new tyres on the thing less than a week ago,and the air guns they use to put them on with puts F1 ones to shame.

Any way clunking is starting to worry me, becuase it is acompanied by a regular sticky noise. The same noise I had when I had a puncture. I get home and get the jack out to look that the noise is. Gets the wrench and socket ready, only to find 3 of the 5 nuts are missing. Some on had tried to take the wheel off. The two left together. So it looks like they where going round but couldnt take off the last two or were disturbed. If I find who did this I will personaly make it so that only dental records can identify the body. But first they will have to piece all the teeth together. I am gonna get a Clifford alarm which goes off if anyone stays near the car for more then 10 seconds.

Stuart,

just for your info, the wheel nuts should be set to a specific torque setting which you'll find can be done by hand. Don't let these garages near your Z with air guns!

Then, get a set of locking wheel nuts to make sure they can't be removed so easily.

Steve

Find 'em Stu and fuck 'em up big time! Twats!!!

That is scarey to think you'd been driving around with only two nuts holding the wheel on!!! You could have ended up in a right nasty mess!!!

Steve, what is the torque that they should be?

I think it's between 80-100nm but I'll have to check my manual which is my engine builder still has.

I think the importance of the torque setting is because the discs are floating will warp when heated if the nuts are too tight or tightened unevenly.

Stuart,

Sorry to hear some theiving scum tried it on with your wheels. Manual says 98 - 118 NMs (72 - 87 ft/lbs).

What do you reckon he'd do with them anyway - put them on his Nova? biggrin.gif

Simon

That's bad news.

My mate had exactly the same with his Astra a few years back. He had a locking nut on each wheel and that put em off but only after removing 3 nuts from each rear wheel. Don't these idiots realise they could kill someone?

Stuart,

sorry to hear that mate. Glad things didn't turn nasty as they so could easily could.

These people should be rounded up and dealt with as terrorists.

We need to wage a war on these scum too.
