The main faults of a 300ZX are

They use too much petrol

They want you to have more power,

They make you want to drive it all the time,

They take over your life,

They make you on first name basis with the local petrol station,

They make you on first name basis with the local police ;)

They make you so proud of your car, you keep the speed camera photos for your personal album. :D

Hehehehe

Dont ask about manual and auto. There have been wars about it. What ever you like you get.

Virtually all 300ZX are Targa tops so thats no problem and virtually all are 2+2 too so thats not much of a problem.

There arent many faults on the cars. Due to the age any faults with the car would have been sorted, but now you will get parts wearing out for failing just due to the age of the car. But get one for a person who looks after it and this will help cut down any problems as they would have fixed them as they occur.

There are a few good ones for sale at the moment. With buying a car from a forum member, you can search for what the car has gone through, and you know that an enthusiast has owned the car and more likely to have looked after it.

My advice for you would to read the help and advice forum for a while. You will then see what parts are most common and how much it will cost to fox what.

Quite a few new people come on here and ask what are the faults with the car, and its really hard to answer and some go for a very long time with out a fault and some fault after fault.

SRRAE,

I could'nt agree with you more mate !, Except you forgot one or two others !....

They cost quite a lot of money to fix,

They are the most underestimated and unknown supercar out there and we like it like that !

apart from the stuff already mentioned above, my only only gripe with the car is that the visibility from the driver's seat isn't amazing - sometimes you need to look over both shoulders a lot... ... only just to see who you've thrashed off the lights! ;) buy one.

all good advice, but I would strongly recommend that you get to drive as many as you can before you buy 0 then you'll get to know what the difference between a good one and a bad one is.

i drove a few of them before i bought mine (will post a pic soon) some where manual some auto. I found that the guys who have looked after them will usually reel off all the stuff they've done whereas the ones who haven't generally say nothing or don't know. I have to say it's the most reliable car i've ever had, i think jap cars are generally very reliable....fantastic engines etc.

On the gearbox question, i usually prefer manual to auto but in this case i found the auto a bit quicker, it's not like a standard auto gearbox!! I'll bet they cost a sh**load more to replace than the manual boxes though?!!
