hi everyone, ive just bought a Jwt twinpop charger for my TT, is it just a simple case of fitting it to my standard zed (except straight through exhaust)

or do i need to alter fueling or anything else???

also on the fitting instructions, you recieve a restricter t-piece for MAS side so it ticks over smooth, but on the diagrams it shows it being plummed in to the bottom of the standard recirc (tapping a right angle piece in) but I have the HKS blow off valves up at the top of the engine, where do I plumb the hose in???

thanks,

Jim

Hi Mate,

I don't know about the t-piece but to fit a twin pop you need an ECU upgrade

hi mate, is it much of a difference to fit two large filters into one MAF or seperate if you know what i mean??

cheers

JiM

You can fit 2 filters onto one MAF but you need an ECU upgrade to fit one filter to each bank with a dummy MAF on one side cos the MAF will only be reading 50% of the air going into the engine

Cheers baz, I have the twin HKS dump valves up top, so where does that pipe go that even's the idle out?

Thanks

Jim

you need to read read read!! what other mods do you have? You'll need either a new chip or some sort of AFC to double up your MAF readings.

The pipe is a drivability upgrade that may or may not be needed depending on the chip you use. It's only for idle as the IAAV valve will pull more air from the passanger side when idle....

hi jaffa it looks as though im going to be on here for a while!!

the pipe for idle, when i removed my recircs i plugged the ends with bungs, can i re-connect the pipe to one of those, for idle balance?

just tap into the intake piping wherever you like, it's just to balance both sides...

What other mods have you got? may not be worth putting it all on yet ...

I only have stainless straight through, but when this popcharger is on and ive chipped it i plan to fit a boost controler at the same time, is this ok?? or

not how much can the zed safely take (auto box)?

cheers mate

can anyone else shed some light on this please???

Jim

did yu get the filter kit new? in which case you chould have got a chip with it. dual POP is not much use to you at the moment, try a single filter first, then get a chip and up the boost.

I think you may be hard pressed to find a chip for standard injectors and twin filters.

Don't really know how much HP an auto will take before melting it but there's plenty on here with a standard box and higher boost.

HI jaffa thanks for all your help mate, yes this kit is brand new it's a RVM one from the states, but i did'nt get the chip with it?

what if i where to fit the twin pop for now, then chip it and raise the boost later?

how would the car go and run with just the twin pop?

cheer

Oh, man... this is painful! If you fit a true twin-POP, your ECU ***WILL ONLY BE METERING HALF THE AIR GOING INTO THE ENGINE***. The car will hardly run at all with the standard map... in fact, it's highly probable you'll f*ck the engine if you try to run it like this! You *have* to have a new ECU EPROM to cope with the new readings coming from the repositioned airflow meter! So what everyone's trying to say is don't fit the twin-POP until you've got a suitable chip to run with it, or you've booked it in with someone to custom map it.

ttop how much was your kit?? iam after one

ive got a hks if you want to swap and cash lol ........iam after one of these as ive just had my car chiped.

LOL! thanks Si :p

arghh! you need a special twin-POP chip to double the airflow, not any old chip :slap:

LOL! thanks Si :p

right i get the message, thanks for the well recieved adivce who's the best person to chip my car then lads?

Maxsunny where did you get yours done mate? and how much, if you don't mind me asking?

cheers jack!

Jaffa just read your last post, who can i get to fit me a special twin pop chip?

don't worry this won't go on for much longer......Lol

i dont get this !!!!!!!

ive got a jwt chip 14psi cant i fit a twin pop filter or do i need a special chip aswell jaffa????????????? i thought i could

This is a system with 2 air filters. The 2 airfilters go through the 1 MAS, so the MAS is getting a reading of the total amount of air getting into the engine

IntercoolerkitfrontmountedZ32fittedHR.jpg

This is a proper Dual POP

Powerflow%20kit%20Z32%20twin.jpg

Each intake has its own airfilter. We only have 1 MAS so you put it on one side, this means its only detecting the air flow on 1 side of the engine, but there is just as much air going into the other side, but the ECU doesnt know this. The result is twice as much air is entering the engine than the ECU has been told. This will cause the engine to run like poo and could do damage

So you need a chip which basically doubles the amount of air the MAS detects. That is why you need a new chip.

cheers for that

the filters i have seen are the same as the fist pic 2 filters into 1 mas so is my jwt chip ok with this kit???

yes it will be fine as the one MAF is reading all the air.

However, it's hardly worth it as the airflow from both intakes is then restricted by the size of the MAF.

Not quite, the idea of 2 cones is simply there isn't the room for 1 massive cone for a 3.0L as often seen on high powered motors, having two enables more air to be delivered to the MAF which doesn't max out until the very high 400's at which point it just won't accept any more, hence why the twin maf/cone kit works best on higher powered cars as in theory your using 1 cone/maf per 1.5 litre cc of engine rather than 1 cone/maf for 3.0 L cc of engine.

Stu got it spot on explaning the chip set up for yer Jim

thanks for all yer help, smithy, who can get me the chip and who can fit it??

cheers

I would imagine John Dixon as he does a few by all accounts, though i don't know if he's done 1 for a twinpop, best ask, possibly too SE-nisstek, though it took them 4 weeks to do mine by mail order just for something that was run of the mill :-(
