but he was told it was standard as well

new one fitted

Same as what I found on my one! I replaced the filter initially, but when I came to do it again there was so much pressure to say that the HKS filters were crap, that I gave in and got an APEXI. No problems with it since (but then I never noticed a problem with the HKS until I looked!)
