Engine Blanket Removal Update

Just a quick update;

The temp needle was sitting just below half way on the temp gauge (obviously!!) unlike before I removed the engine 'blanket' the needle on the temp gauge was just over the middle......

So in conclusion;

Blanket on = Hotter running engine

Blanket off = Cooler running engine

:bow:

Seems that the blanket must hold alot of heat in.......plus the weather has been warmer today than most other times I've taken the Z out so far this year.

I removed my heat shield over the weekend too. Can't see I noticed much difference in temperature but it stands to reason that what you are saying makes sense.

Besides, once I've cleaned mine, I'm gonna get some bling bling on the underneath.

No guv, honest.........the needle was lower than normal!! :cry: :D

To be honest I wondered what was up with the Z as it was below half, usual Z feeling "oh no, what's up?!?!" but then I recalled getting covered in fibres and shattering plastic.......ahhh, the blanket is off, I'm suprised at the result.

Go for that 'bling' you know you want to!! :D

:cool: Did mine this afternoon and now the bonnet is cleaner on the inside than the out side...:rofl:

Matty, word of warning - I noticed tonight that I've got an asbestos warning label on the underside of the bonnet where the blanket was! :eek: Was a bit worried as you said you ripped yours off and got fibers everywhere!

Anyway, also found out I've got a coolant leak from the top rad hose as I had white crap (evaporated coolant) all over the underside of my shiny bonnet! Tightened it up and sorted! :)

Did mine about 6 months ago, didn't notice any difference in temp, also the engine noise outside the car didn't increase much either.

Did you remove the cover at the same time as you put the whole in the bonnet? because your engine definately sounds louder than any other Z I've heard and your SQV's are silly loud. Doesn't compair to mine and from what you have told me, you have almost the same set up as me. :confused: :confused:
