After installing a APEXi Boost controller, what Psi will i get?

Featured Replies

The idea of a boost controller is you tell it what PSI you want.

What modifications do you have? If you have a standard chip, dont go ver 12-13psi. If you have and it chipped, you can goto 14-15psi

Just a quick question...

ย

Did you consider other boost controllers, like the Profec E or C, before you purchased your APEXi? If so why did you choose the APEXi? I am looking to purchase a controller and so far I've heard good reports about the Profec E, but no much else.

I have the Apexi and I'm very happy with it. There are quite a few others on here with it too. I went for it as it matches the AFC, has gear based boost control (which I haven't set up yet) and it's easy to use.

ย

And I only paid 240 for it through a huge Groiup Buy :D

They all do much the same job, but have a variety of different features (ie number of pre set levels and so on). Most also link up with fuel controllers if you wish to take the mods to a higher level. I chose the Profec e-01 simply for the size and quality of the display - as it also acts as a live boost guage, negating the requirement for a new boost guage somewhere else.

It's really about the look and your budget at the end of the day.

ย

But don't forget, that if you're decatted and on stock turbos, running increased boost (be it from jets, valves or a boost controller) will seriously reduce the lifespan of your turbo seals (which are not designed for the extra stress). And it will cost you around ยฃ700 to get to them to replace them and you'd be well advised to refurb, replace or upgrade your turbos while your down there - which could cost from about ยฃ600 to thousands!

ย

So enjoy your faster car while it lasts! :D

(mine lasted about 15 months before the seals went - and I reduced the boost back down to stock in the middle of that period!)
