thanks to all for the 60k service info. checked receipts i got with the car and seems it's actually been done, albeit not aal at once, but nevertheless. which leaves some money and an airfilter that needs replacing.

the car has standard exhaust - back boxes to be upgraded to something that wont wake the neighbours at 5am and haven;t upgraded anything else.

can I fit an intake kit without ruining the mixture or needing a chip? also one that will be useable upto about 400 ish bhp?

i liked the look of a metal one i saw, but have forgotten who manufactured it.....any reccomendations ?

BlitZ SUS Induction Kit...only way to go! IMO!

JWT POP is good aswell, not much between them, HKS do a rather tastey effort.

Personal preference at the end of the day.

Hear Hear lol

Hks i have , Blitz new stuff is the dogs ganoobies, Blitz really are high quality.

HKS is what I am running, lovely and deep throaty at 140 MPH on a private blah blah...

Get a full GReddy exhaust too for maximum bowel shakery.

Glen and his breathed-upon Zed.

Isn`t Johnny Boy the geezer at Grasshopper the man to speak to?

Timmy Put a lid on it lol.

If you wanna decent intake, and a decent price...J. is da man! Without doubt!

Just found out how GOOD!

SE do one of their own, which I have seen. Pete claims it's a winner (well he would smile.gif ), but as usual he is always prepared to back up his claims on the dyno. Said to me money back if it didn't make 20bhp extra - can't argue with that.

Also didn't mention whether I get to keep the filter if it only makes 19bhp !!!

Not gone for it yet due to insurance complications on imports .... frown.gif

How much does your insurance go up if you claim the cone air filter?

Stuart

Depends on your insurance company Stuart

Some will put a 25% loading on for any mod, others will let you put a cone filter on with no charge.

Gotta call them I'm afraid..

Sorry forgot to say, Johnny is the man to call, for the best prices you could imagine.

And they are a bitch to fit.

SRRAE,

I'm currenlty insured with Tescos, approx. £1000 pa TPFT - asked them about an after market air filter (assume that this description is OK for an intake kit??) and they have quoted an extra £50 pa.

Not great admittedly, but they didn;t tell me to get lost....

after talking and thinking about this a bit more carefully I'm thinking that it would probably be a good idea to have a diagnostic test done on the car before I start trying to increase power, also would quite like someone who knows the cars to have a drive as I have nothing to compare it to - If someone has a test unit and is willing to carry out a diag for me I'd be more than happy to give a hand on anything they're working on at the moment or give a lift to meeting if car's off the road etc.....am in southampton and dead keen to reassure myself the cars OK before sinking cash into some performance goodies, appreciate any help

Zach, you can run an ECU diag without a CONSULT/Techtom - there's a good tech procedure in the tech section of tt.net...

Az

Cheers Aaron, this is what i was plannig to do originally but it was suggested to me that it's not always reliable to do it that way and seeing as it's not been done since I've have the car I really wanted to know whats its doing, dont know what the rest of you think on this one...............

worth mentioning, live in Southampton but work in Bromley Kent so maybe there is someone round there ? Do appreciate everyone's busy enough with their own stuff though and if counting flashing lights will do the job I'll do that, in fact will do it anyway and see what it sez...

Zach,

Couple of things - I work in Croydon so if you want to come home from work via there then happy to come out for a quick spin to compare with other Zs.

On the filter front, at different times I ran stock, SE and JWT (same as K&N). SE & KWT were both better than stock but I couldn't tell the difference between them.

SE is probably a more efficient filter but requires replacement filters at around £30 a time (for the two of them).

Drop me an email if you'd like to pop by Croydon sometime.

Dave

Dave,

£30 a time for the 2 that aint bad, I got crappy Halfords ones and that cost £28 for the both
