Just found this forum and its excellent and I hope you can help. Got in the Z on Saturday and the clutch went straight to the floor with no resistance at all. Thanks to Bob's manual I was able to bleed the system but still no joy, I now think the operating cylinder (the one attached to the gearbox) is shagged as fluid appears to be leaking around the dust shield.

My question is, does anyone know a good garage in the South London area that could confirm/laugh off my amateur diagnosis and do the repair ?

Thanks

John

Hey Reesy

welcome to the Forum.

I think the problem you are probably having is a fluid leak within the hydraulic system,

I would wager this is coming from one of two places. the Cluch Pivot Fork may be damamged causing the Piston to kinda fall out(for lack of a better name) or the Actual Master cylinder is faulty and leaking.

Replacement should not be too costly, i think you would be looking around the 400 quid mark up here probably a bit more down south.

Hope that helps

A common problem for the master/slave cylinders to go. Not expensive.

Any Nissan garage should be able to fix it...

Just make sure they fill the cylinder with fluid before inserting and bleed the system at both bleed points afterwards.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll be hoping its the slave cylinder then. Got a quote from Mike @ MJP of £50 + VAT, thats my idea of not expensive Nico :). Might just have to experience the pain of paying London dealer labour rates though, which are just a con !!

Latest seizure inducing quotes, £350 for a Level B service and £650 for cam belt. The solution ? visit the folks in Wales, pay £404 for the lot at a local dealer and have the added bonus of some great roads to blast about on, nice . . .
