I can get my hands on a 56k miler for £900 including vat & delivery

 

or

 

a 40k miler for £850+ vat including delivery

 

or

 

a '90 complete car with a b0rked auto box on 60k miles (drives) with full leather interior (would be easy enough to fit my auto box on it and just break the rest of mine) for £2000

 

in your best opinions, what do you think I should do? :confused:

meant to mention the £900 quid one comes with 30 days warranty & is in Glasgow

 

and the £850+vat one comes with a 4 month warranty & is in Birmingham.

I would go for the 40k £850+VAT

 

£850 + VAT is a few quid under £1000.

 

For an extra £100 you get an engine with 16,000 miles less and 3 months more warranty!

I'm looking for an engine too...

 

Agree with Stu on the decision between engines... go for the low mileage one. But the car is tricker. It depends on:

 

How attached you are to your current chassis (I've ruled out a car swap because mine is in good nick and has a mint light conversion and front end)

 

Whether you want leather (dunno if you've already got it - not a bad deal if you get an interior upgrade into the bargain is it? :dance: )

 

Whether you want the "old" car sitting in your garage in bits whilst selling it off - and lots of the value is in the engine and 'box which presumbaly aren't saleable

 

Whether you're doing this yourself and how the engine swap versus car swap comes out when you factor in labour cost and/or your time

 

Incidentally I'm very interested in whichever engine you don't go for - could you pass on the details? :bow:

 

And do those prices include tubbies?

Zev, I was offered the tubbies as a package, but said I didn't need them, best bloke was a lad from Birmingham called Charlie on 01214593332 - that was for the 40k miler with the 4 month warranty at 850+vat inc delivery.

 

I reckon you could knock him down a bit too or at least get the tubs thrown in for the same price! as he kept calling me, and seemed fairly 'keen' to sell.

 

I have a load more too, if you want the details I'll mail 'em to you tonight as they are at home.

Where are you getting the engine from in Glasgow? Is it from a car being broken?

The couple in Glasgow were from Jap parts and some other bloke, who are located around the pollokshields area. (Jap Parts are in Scotland Street)

 

I'm Glaswegian btw :D been living in Glos. for a wee while now tho' - where it's 'civilised' ;)

 

I have their numbers if you want them, in fact more than 6 ppl have contacted me with low miles zed TT engines. I'll post all details I have when I get home tonight.

Have you tried Foreign Car Spares in Birmingham ? They claim to be one of the biggest import car breakers in the Midlands and import second hand engines from Japan.

I'm yonks behind on the general forum... but just read that link, nicely done mate! I did a car swap to fix the first broken engine I had but it didn't quite work out that well, so I'm back where I started. :rolleyes:

 

Any more details gratefully received - I am talking to someone on 'ere who is waiting for insurance assessment and possible buyback, but I certainly want to have a look at this option too! :dance:

 

Have you tried an auto gearbox diag? It might just tell you exactly what's wrong with Hold mode...
