am in the middle of trimming my interior and have seen this wire

under the centre storage box, what does it connect to?

What's i l ook like?

Does it have a connector on the end?

not much help, but I've just replaced an interior - removed one from a crash damaged UK TT and fitted into my Jap NA. It looks like that wire is leading to the back, where all of the connectors under both the TT and the NA centre console lead forwards - and basically do heated seats, mirrors, lighter and ashtray light (UK) and (Jap) folding mirrors, mirrors, lighter and astray light.

 

Question is - is there anything connected to your centre console that it plugs into(silly question) or are there any holes in the space under the arm rest where a previous owner has had some gadget or other hidden away.

 

Only real solution is to follow the wire and find out what the other end is connected to. I did this with my wifes Saab recently and removed loads of old cell-phone stuff (tons of it).

there isnt anything for it to plug into but then i cant find any extra holes either

...trace it back, you'll have already removed the back seats - there's control boxes in front of each rear wheel arch - vary according to spec level, and then there's rear speakers and amp (UK) and shocks adjustors - but all of this is part of the loom so I'd be looking for an afermarket add-on. Is it Jap or UK?

...in that case I'd be looking for something that could run a DVD player or Playstation or some (I'm out of my depth) other must have....

the pic is not very clear, but if it is a steel braided cable it could be from the cats, as that is where the gubbins for the cat heat sensor should be mounted, if it is it will fo down thew side of the prop hump and into the floor. HTH

It's been a long time since I did mine, but it may be a connection for a boot mounted CD changer. My car had a sony controller in the centre console and the changer in the boot.

I'm with Jock on this! The car has probably been decatted and the control box for the temp sensors removed, leaving the wires that run to the dash....

I'm gonna agree with the duffer and jock here, and say its the cat temp sensor wireing

its not braided, just a black sheath with lotsa little different coloured wires inside going to one connector

the wire is going towards the back of th car, not to the front
