Exhaut done, induction to be done Thursday... then ECU if I can find out a bit more about that.

After these three things what kind of BHP will my otherwise standard NA have, roughly? How much is the at-the-wheels figure less than the flywheel?

If it's 222 BHP as standard, how much is it likely that I would have gained by exhaust and induction? and then after that how much could I gain by fitting a suitable chip?

I'm having trouble finding n/a tuning info as well.

It seems nobody cares cause there ain't much n/a's around and it's turbo brother is far more tuneable :(

But I think you will have gained up to 250hp, if it's a good ecu wich copes nicely with the other mods  . If not maybe not even better then 235hp :(

What chip do you want to buy?

Jock had similar mods done to his N/A and posted the following at Thor...

187.6 Bhp @ 110mph @ 6733 rpm

170.2 ft/lb @ 80mph @ 4901 rpm

Mods

Pipe

Intake

Slightly modded chip

Note that the above is RWHP so equates to approx 225BHP at the fly.

what you have got to remember is the 220bhp claimed as standard is on a bench driven, brand new engine. You are trying to tune a 13 yr old engine that will be far from tight. To achieve the claimed bench BHP in an engine that old is saying something. Ask how many of the standard turbos are pulling the 280/300 bhp that was claimed. Many of the TTs with pipe, chip and induction are struggling to find that. Basically what I am saying is be realistic about what you have , and then what you hope to achieve. There are NA chips around. Andy P and Andy Z both have one, I have two and there are others in existence.

So what BHP do you think it is likely the engine will be achieving? How much will the power fall off over the years?

The whole other question is if I do get hold of a chip, what do I have to do to get it fitted, does it come as a whole modified ECU or just a chip or new socket that gets soldered on top?

It depends - i brought a Devin ECU box off andyZ and swapped it for my standard and a few quid ! Apparently socketing ecu's aint that easy !

Incidentally, mines an N/A, decat, blitz induction, apexi exhausts and ive got an apexi SAFC, and Devin chip - i dont know what the BHP is as my clutch wasnt good enough for the rollers on sunday at Interpro - but ive taken a few standard TT's out for a spin recently (that were for sale in a garage), and my mate has taken mine out with me to compare, and im eating twin turbo's off the line up to about 80 (a good two car lengths infront), so it must be pretty good - BHP wise !

Im destroying the local GTO TT's as well ! - which for an N/A is v.good

That sounds good- is it really expensive to get the whole ECU as I would have liked to keep the standard so I could switch back if I wanted.

Forgive my stupidity, but what is an SAFC- air flow controller or something?

It would have been 150 quid (i think - may be slightly more) if i hadnt traded my old ECU for it ! To be honest there aint much point in keeping your old one (in my opinion anyway). Yea Super Air Flow Controller - lovely bit of kit ! - Looks amazing and when you fiddle with it stuff hapens - which is nice haha
