Hi everybody. Just a couple of questions.

Firstly, the battery. Can someone post a pic of their battery tray/clamp arrangement? I only ask this because my battery is not clamped at all. And I'm not too sure if it's the original tray. It's a white plastic affair.

Secondly. Bonnet lining. Is this just a sound deadening thing? Or does it insulate heat as well? Has anyone taken this off? I don't want it to ruin my bonnet's paintwork with the heat from the engine bay. I just ask because mine has gone a little manky near the windscreen area so looking at it, it would look nice as just polished paintwork under there.

Any help would, as usual, be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Ivan

I've wondered about the bonnet lining, I think I'd like to remove mine from my Z but how noisey would it make it??

Matty.

The engine heat should not ruin the paint. The paint would have been baked on.

I've seen a few that have. I'm sure when eveyone had their bonnets up at a meet it was about 50-50 which cars had and didn't have their lining

Here is a car with no lining at a midlands meet last year.

Actually, I can't tell if the black one has it's lining either.

Hmmm good. Yeah I suppose it would be baked on. Has anyone actually done this? I'm not too worried about the noise :hyper: I love it!!!!

Anyone know about the battery thing?

I took mine off when I had the vents pressed in. It seemed like the engine was wrapped in a duvet - as if it doesn't get hot enough as it is!

I think I'll be doing the same this weekend!! ;)

Any 'hidden' grippers, bolts, screws, plugs, tie downs, tack or pins we should know about????

:D

Matty.

me too - will do it tomorrow !!! did this on my s12 when i got the bonnet vented, sounded grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat.

With the bonnet venting, dont you have problems with water getting on the electrics when washing the car or raining.

First thing i did on all 3 Zs i've had is remove the bonnet lining, its a waste of space, keeps the heat in,one side affect with it removed that gets people looking, is if its raining and your stuck say in traffic jam etc it steams the rain off very quickly and can look dramatic, gets even more attention from other motorist's :D

Surely even with bonnet Paint baked on - over the long term your still going to get some discolouration?

MATTY - no hidden fixings, just loads of popper type things all around the edge.

JAY - its no prblem driving in the rain, its when you park up that it will run into the vents.....luckily I have something to put over them! But to be honest, I try not to drive it in the rain these days! As for washing it, I have to be careful with the hose pipe across the bonnet!

I have heard SMWs Z and his is very loud by comparison as he has removed the lining but he also has a gaping hole in his bonnet but nevertheless, there is a difference and his BOVs are louder because of it as well.
