I thinking of going down this route since my turbo seals are finished.

anyone used them ?

they are a decent upgrade for the S13, (TD06-20g) capable of 470bhp, perhaps 500bhp if really pushed. not too bad for lag etc; not sure what 2 would be like though with just 1500cc feeding each of them rather than 1850cc. Probably good for 7-800RWHP though I'd have thought

here's an RR graph for an S13 with one, he went on to run 470.

Hi Stu

Ive looked at these and you have a couple of problems, the main one being that they dont make the kit anymore for the zed!! but you can still find them at a few places, they other problem is that there too big for the zed infact i believe you even have to modify the inner wing to fit them, the last one is lag its massive on them and you would need to use nos to spool them up quicker thats why i'm only going for the 16g kit now as it will still push 600 bhp and the lag isnt that bad!!

Good luck deciding!!

kirbs, i thought you were getting shut mate!

i've always found that more lag isnt a prob when you want loads of power. Maybe just my driving style but if im driving normally i dont actually use much power and in the Z the boost rarely goes past 0.1 bar. however, when im having a sillly its always working hard and because its always in the last 3000rpm the turbo's spin up quickley enough anyway. over the years i've owned a few different turbo cars, some with big turbo's and some without but generally if you can use the power it can make then lag shoouldnt be a prob. and as Kirbz mentioned there's always nitrous to spool them up or even a good anti-lag system. my mates dad has an evo 7 making 480bhp with an anti-lag and it drives like a stocker (just a lot faster) HTH

I was mate but i had threatening phone call from people telling me to keep her so i will soldier on with the rebuild but i have just compiles a list of the bits i need and so far it adds upto £10000 so a little vioce at the back of my mind says sell the car as a project sell the forged bits and then spend the 12 odd grand on another car?? but then i would be dissapointed for giving up!!

Bloody cars eh mate.....anyway i thought you were selling up??

Cheers

Mike

The only problem with the 20g's is that when they do kick in its not really controllable so it depends on what you want...a nice rolling road read out saying your car puts out 700+ ponies but you cant drive it on the road and have some fun or take it down a notch and get a car that still puts the ponies out but slightly less but is still drivable and fun!!

Kirbz

why is it not controlable? with an electronic boost controller you set what boost you want.

but why have power that just sends you sidewards off the road!??

Buying huge turbos to give you massive boost, then adding a controller to tone it down again??

Sounds like a weird way of spending your readies to me - I'm with Kirbz, if you plan to use it on the road forget huge turbos. Besides, just think of all the other bits you have to upgrade to handle all that ooomph!

Stuart .. dont know if you are interested but there are some Greddy 16G's on ebay ...

I think they have about 9k miles on them ....

You probably aren't interested but they are going for a good price ... better than 3k+

I spoke to the guy selling them and you can get them checked out for three weeks and if you are not happy with them ... send em back for a full refund ...

I think the link is this ... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2470811070&category=32094

Then again it is ebay so you takes your chances mate !!

use traction control (and/or a decent boost controller) to control the power in low gears, but accellerating as if you are in 1&2st when you are in 3&4th can only be cool. :)

I just rely on the TC at the minute but not running silly power yet.

But traction and boost control are only going to reduce the power that you've just spent all your money adding! - a 700bhp monster kept on a TC and boost controller leash isn't going to be any faster than a 450bhp car! - until you get it on a drag strip and switch all the safety toys off!

yes it is cos because you only need to control the power in some of the gears, imagine having the same accellaration in 4th and 5th as you have in a std car in 2nd and 3rd. Rarely do you wheels spin in 2nd and 3rd unless really really nailing it, only now you are doing 100-150 in 8 seconds instead of just 50-100. :)

Richie with the 620bhp S13 doesn't have TC at all and he seems to manage to keep it on the road. I love the TC cos you can just nail it everywhere popping and banging, sounds sooo cool. :)
