Autobox has just packed in :cry: it wont select any gear and when it does come in for a second there's a bad grinding noise from the passanger side :rolleyes:

Chris, Soz to hear about your gearbox,always somthin' happenin' in the world of Z's. Maybe have a Group Donation......seems to work with your buys!!!! Oh, fitted that Grounding kit you sent me and everythings okey dokey.

Sometimes its just one thing after the other with these cars but I am sure you will get it all sorted.

May I just say......phuck the manual conversion!

 

I do feel bad for you....almost as bad as I will feel for me when my box goes eventually. You are a decent bloke and there`s too few of us left around for bad sh1t to happen.

 

I would urge you in your time of grief to consider the fast road rebuild auto as a replacement. I will be going for it deffo when mine packs in. For Cliff's sake do not join the Manwell brigade (utterly no offence intended to all the Manwell guys)

Go for the fast road auto rebuild. Every cloud has a silver linning. Listen it goes like this, "Wo nay and thrice wo my darling my drated gearbox hath broken". Wife. "but darling that is because your stupid car is a crock of sh1t and you should buy something sensible". You. " but baby I know exactly where your coming from, but I carn't sell it with a knackered gearbox". Wife. "I see your dilemma, and you'd really give up you silly willy car for mmmwa". You. "of course my darling. No point throwing good money after bad."

 

1 week later and new fast road box in situe." oh Darling I;m going to keep the car because the mechanics say it the best Z they've ever seen and it should be good for another 10 years". :D :D

Blody hell Chris,i know how ya feel,and you have not had it imported long or used it much,i have oroblems with mine as you know but when you look at what its been through,trackdays,the Pod,loads of hard driving from me and JVN before me, its done well,i was going to get the oil changed in it very shortly,in hindsite should of done it last year,but live n learn,i did think for a few seconds at a manual conversion but to much hassle and more money needed, worked out better to have mine sorted,and to be honest i enjoy it more as an auto,just love that mad rush/kick when you plant it :D if box last's another three years with all the abuse its gonna get especialy as i am running more power then thats fair enough for me,if you drive hard you have to pay a price somewhere ;)

Yes,bit of a double whammy there,though i still cant work out why freshly imported low milage autos tend to go tits up after a few hundred miles,time and time again this happens,maybe it just seems this way being as there are far more autos than manuals in the UK,when JVN got this Z of mine he was first owner in UK,very shortly after box went,but as i said,its done well since.

My auto allso was sweet as a nut before it went,no idea it was going to go,oh well,wonder what next, as every god damn parts been virtualy replaced/upgraded(except rear diff :rolleyes: )watch this space :D
