If I can get my motor running properly by then I'll have a go. Never done standing 1/4 before. Having said that I've also never come across a FTO that can live with me either.

They're GTO's mate.........FTO is the smaller na thing

Boys a little bird told me that these guys have SEVERAL machines running over 500Bhp.

Apart from the obvious, how many Zs are near to this.

Dont know when this battle is, but once my motor is run in. Iam having my NOS fitted. Along with 5Ks worth of toys. With the help of a new found contact, my machine will KICK ARSE. This contact currently runs 2 x 150bhp NOS systems on his Z, and has a rolling road. He has offered to dyno it and set up the NOS along with the other bits.

Just thought on, his Z runs 700Bhp without the NOS, I will see if he wants to come along.

Wow! This guy sounds like he knows his stuff. Would be great if he could support us at this event.

I plan to get NOS eventually. Next year I plan to go up to 500bhp@fly with NOS, let me know how your setup goes.

If you guys have a car running 700 BHP that will give us(GTO) severe whooping.

We only have 2 cars in that kind of power band - and one is untested and being a pain to set up.

My own car would look like it's in reverse compared to that ... so if you can get him to come along then please do - it'll be cool to see.

Looking forward to the day.

Not anything to do with a Mr Rod Bell (RB Motorsport) by any chance is it ? he is up by you Wigan area. OH MY GOD ! if it is then this guy is awesome he builds 1000bhp Skylines and has also worked on some Zeds in his past, he built the infamous JUN LEMON 1000bhp Skyline, what a guy. Let me know I have a Nitrous setup for my car and need it settin' up.

Hi guys,

Are any of you running at York tomorrow (Easter Monday)? I'll be there in my GTO twin turbo with propane and nitrous, though 1/4s will be hampered by my slipping clutch :(. I know a couple of other guys are running the RWYB in GTOs and 3000GTs aswell if you want to meet up for a bit a head to head.

By the way, if you want to come over and say hello, I'm the 6'7" tall guy in the dark silver K-reg Mk1 (pop-up lights) with 3 polished bottles in the boot.

3 polished bottles?

Why not get a keg too and you will have a mini bar in your boot ;)

What size are your bottles ??? Stella bottle size ???

Here is a pic of the bottles in Steve's boot.

Middle one is the NOS

Others are Propane and Co2

you wouldnt want to be in a crash with all that in the boot.. jesus

I have 2 polished bottles the same size as the big one in the middle to go on mine and 1 small unpolished the same size as the smaller ones. :)

Well yesterday was a complete nightmare. My clutch was already starting to slip before we got there, and when I turned up the boost and nitrous/propane mixture, it simply let go completely. I had to get towed home afterwards :(

What I would say though, is York might be a good venue to hold an event at. Yesterday was RWYB where everyone was seperated into classes. 300zx would be in the Super touring car class, and the GTO is in the 4WD class. Yesterday they had an event for minis and beetles, where they were in their own class together, getting the same amount of runs as the RWYB guys got. Then at the end of the day they had a shootout just for that class based on their qualifying times throughout the day. I'm fairly sure they would be able to let us have our own class just for 300s and GTOs in a similar format. I think the price might increase a touch from the £25 (admission and RWYB) to maybe £35-40 each, but I'll drop them an email and see what they say.

Cor. What sort of clutch was it?

I was at York Dragway yesterday too!

Albeit only briefly.... turned up to have some fun down the strip but was put off by a) the way my clutch started to give up the ghost over Easter in an alarmingly rapid fashion (racing M3's I think), and b) the length of the queue for RWYB. LOTS of saxos etc trying to blow themselves up.

Saw you and your 3000 actually but only just read this post. Thought those bottles in the boot might have been just for show but glad to hear they're not!

There were a few quick cars there from what I saw (headed off for a look round York to appease the gf fairly early on after i decided not to race) - especially one scooby that looked like he was going to do v. well before he either missed a gear v. badly or blew something up.

York seemed ok but i've not seen many other dragways tbh. Shame the track to the strip is so bumpy though - you have to be v. careful if you've got a low car!

Definitely interested in going again (without the easily bored g/f) when i've got a new clutch back in.

Oh yeah - wasn't in a 300 by the way (sold recently and now undergoing a major transformation) - was in a Black Corvette C5.

The clutch was a standard one AFAIK, I've never had the clutch out since buying it, nut I doubt it would be uprated, though it will be soon!

Any idea when this is gonna be held? I might pop along and battle it out for the NA's.

I have emailled York dragway asking for possible dates, costs and what the chances are of them organising something along the lines of the minis vs beetles event for us. I'll let you know when I get a reply.

Ok, I understand the principle of NOS, but how does the Propane work? or is it just a flamer kit?

Have a look here for some info on propane. It works like water injection, only better! Instead of getting a fuel controller and leaning out my injectors when on the propane, I add nitrous to lean out the mixture whilst adding propane to stop detonation and raise the AF ratio and octane.

I've also emailled Santa Pod to see if they can offer a do for us!

I gotta get me some o' that pro-paaaaane!

(with apologies to Hank Hill)

I'll get me coat...

Ahh, that clears it up a bit, cheers.
