Ok,start at the begining, last week went to the Stenson meet,on way thought it was slipping a tad when going from 2nd to D,later it would not start in P,but all syptoms cleared up as quick as it came, journey home ok,then tuesday it would not go from 2nd to D no matter what, have tried every thing this week, done the Self diagnostic and 9 short flash one long flash, according to Manual that points to Line Pressure Solenoid :( it may be one of a couple of things but this seems more likely, done Voltage test from Solenoid harness connector, resistance should be around 2.5 - 5,i got 3, then within less than a second 0,another thing the ALC red light that gets brighter the more WOT you use no longer lights up,so again line pressure possibility,(have allso tried with no ALC fitted, same syptoms)the Conzult shows a poor line pressure of around 50% when i tried it on the road, just will not get passed 2nd,i would imagine that more than 50% is needed to make it change up from 2nd.Its been a great box and still is ,just a small solenoid can fookit for ya,.

So,what do you think,i suppose its a gearbox out job to get to the Line pressure solenoid, knowing these cars its prob somethin other than i have said  All ideas wellcom(no i will not be converting to a manual,if its to come out it will be sorted like no other ;) .Bit of a shit to be honest,so much coming up and was supposed to go away in it for a short hols next month, never a good time is it :(

fookin 'ell mate..........

If your keeping it as an auto, why not buy maccas fast road box - iirc hes replacing it with some all singing, bells and whistles doodad!!

Hi Mate,

You don't need to remove the box to replace any of the solenoids, remove the sump off the box, you can then remove the strainer and about a million little bolts to drop the valve body down, the solenoids sit on top of that..

Not too bad to do really, i did mine but it didn't cure the not changing past second so i converted to manual to save any future hassle.

Solenoids and sump gasket cost about £140 from nissan if i remember correctly

Hope that helps

Thanks for that,i will enquire at the place i am thinking off taking it to,they do the same thing maybe that Mac is having, they do race spec Autos that are supposed to be bomb proof, all a matter of cost ,Tony ;)

Tony, there is a drop resistor fitted high in the front passenger wheel arch this should have a value of around 14 Ohms the only way to check it correctly is to take wheel off and remove rear wheel arch liner, then remove the resistor and measure it with nothing connected, chances are that it will have gone open circuit and requires replacing.

Actually had a zed in the workshop last year with a similar fault and that fault code, traced it to the resistor, swapped it with a used one and all back to normal, got to be worth a go, I do have second hand one`s in stock and I am sure so will AndyZ so no problem there.

Good luck

im not saying that a resistor wont fail but its very rare for a fixed resistor to fail. It may burn out due to overheating do to another fault, but for a resistor to fail hmm wouldnt be my first thought to be honest.

scoops, seems you have a point with this particular problem, check out the link

it does seem my memory has failed me on this one, the resistor failure can be the cause of harsh changing and a feeling of no gears or coasting in overdrive not as in Tony`s case no upchange to 3rd, incedently the thread has a picture of the resistor and it definately had failed in that particular case.

So would it be worth me trying the Drop resistor test, suppose it would not hurt to check i suppose, will have a go tommoro, anotherv thing i should of mentionend but forgot,i can push the car in D as if its got no resistance at all, cant remember for life of me if this is normal but i think not somehow, but nothing is mentionend in manual for this

Cheers for help,Tony

Gutted for you tony, hope you get it sorted, let me know if i can help i any way, fetching bits etc.

Tony!

and to think I was going to buy this bag of spanners!!!!

seriously though - I hope it's something as cheap and simple as your resistor - you deserve to get some quality driving time out of that car!

Shit Tony - hope its a simple fix for ya mate :( Anything I can do let me know bud, anything. You shouldnt be able to push it in Park, unless you've been working out bigstyle :)

Nigel, dont think i would of been able to live it down if it had done this if you had bought it,but hopefully its nothing terminal, allways the way,get set up for the spring and all the meets/shows coming up and this happens,oh well, got to laugh otherwise you'd crack up

Pete, cheers mate, its not possible to push it in P,its in D i can push it easy, not sure if this is normal

Allso spent a few hours cleaning all connectors, just so happens i found a dodgy injector connector so thats saved me i hope for the future aswell  :)

Tony

You've gotta get it working - cause I still want a ride in it next time I see you!
