A little oil on the gearbox

Should I be worried? They put the car on the ramp to look at the exhaust, and there was a wee drip of oil at the back of the gearbox. Should I be worried? I know it could have tracked from somewhere, but it just looked like a little at the join. Is it easy to fix? It was light yellow, just wet, about here:

There is a cylindrical metal 'thing' just behind and that looks a bit wet too. I am getting very paranoid because the car sees totally jinxed right now. I really would be grateful of any ideas whether it is 'serious' or not. I will be taking it in soon for one of the 'other' problems I am experiencing. So this is what it's like- the real feeling of owning one! I am slowly realising it now!!

I was advised to keep an emergency fund when I bought the car. I have. It's gone. We're onto food and mortgage money now :D

sounds like the rear gearbox seal. quite easy to do.

prop off, prise the old seal out & tap the new one in. i replaced mine when i had my box out to do the clutch.

if its only a slight leak its not gonna cause too much problems, clean it off & see how much comes back.

Cheers,

Thank God for that (if it does turn out to be that)- I don't think I could take much more at the moment!

You are a walking zed dictionary- many thanks
