Non Starter......

Hi, help it won't start !!!

Recently the Z has been temperamental about starting when the engine is warm. It all turns over and sounds ok but it just won’t catch. Open bonnet and wiggle a few things, and it always seemed to start after about 5 mins – until yesterday when it wouldn’t start even after a couple of hrs.

I’ve done some searching on the site, and there seems to be a lot of suggestions pointing to Coolant Temp sensor. I did the ECU test, and I’ve got that code now, although when it happened the other day, I didn’t. I tried cleaning of the sensor etc, but no difference, although it does looks a bit of a mess of a connection !!

One question I had was “Is there anyway of bypassing the coolant temp sensor arrangement, just to see if it will start, and thereby confirming that as problem ?”

Also took petrol filter off to check the gas was coming through and seems ok.

Any other suggestions gratefully received…

TIA

Ash

(Typically if it had held off for another month I would have moved office and not needed it everyday!)

As for the ecu codes mate, try disconnecting

the battery for an hour or so, let the ecu re-set

itself.

The non-starting when warm could be the P.T.U,

but not sure?
