Are the block oil feeders a UK Z thing or genaral Z thing?

When you get down to the block, there are little oil feeders which squirt oil up underneath the cylinder onto the block. I have a service manual but its for the US ZX and thre is no mention of them in the book.

Are these UK specific or have they just for got to mention them in the book?

You mean the ones that cool the underside of the piston crowns???

My old S13 had the very same items, I think a fair few engines have them too, R5 turbo maybe? etc etc........

I think they do. They are on the block just under where the block opens out for the crank. If they squirt hard enough they probably do hit the under of the pistons

I believe the US cars do have them, if you are getting aftermarket pistons then you should change them to NA squirters!

They're for getting the oil right up to the little end bearing, and for cooling the piston.

Most engines have them - btw there's 3 holes - the middle ones points straight up the bore so there's no 'probably' about 'hitting' the piston.

You will have some tiny paper thin gasket for these squirters in the rebuilt set.
