Just drive it with no power assistance, you big girl. :D

You ever tried this , almost impossible at slow speeds , My power steering belt snapped a few weeks back mid way through a corner :( at higher speeds the car was fine but anything below 30mph and you had to hang off the steering wheel to get it to turn not much fun at all

Apart from the fact if you drive a power assisted steering car with no assistance (ie no fluid) you'll destroy the steering rack in no time!! (and the power steering pump if its still got the belt on!)

LOL

I -have- tried it - when the block cracked on the old Z, the engine cut at about 50 mph on an off-mway slip... had to brake into the roundabout (without servos!), coast round the roundabout, and steer it into handy ditching spot. I'm just glad I didn't panic and the hills were all in the right direction!

You have to do proper push-pull steering, no crossing or rotational steering :nono: (Noticed in the Passat bank robbery ad last night that he crosses his arms when pulling off, so he obviously isn't driving -that- carefully!)

PS not happy on the new one at the mo either, I think it's the pump - topped the fluid off a week ago and it hasn't lost any, but just occasionally it will go heavy at car park speed, and it doesn't seem to be the speed sensor because everything else inc speedo is behaving! I've obviously been using opposite lock too much.

How much is a new pump, seeing as C&S will undoubtedly be ordering one for me on Monday?
