Just wondering....... how much heat comes up from underneath the car. Its just that when i sit at traffic lights etc i can actualy seat the heat waves rising up the out side of the window. Is this normal? When i open the door with the engine running i can even feel heat on my legs. Another thing that seems to get very warm is the transmition tunnel. Is this caused by the gear box. Im going to put a cooler conversion on the gearbox cooler as its a jap import. Any thing else i can do to help??

You will notice a hell of a difference with the gearbox cooler conversion. Its the best thing you can do.

so is it the gearbox thats causing all the heat?!!! Better get it sorted before the "ooops, should have converted the cooler" when it frazzles

i get the same, i think its due to the fact that the engine bay is pretty sealed, so the only way for the heat to escape is under the car, the zorst get rather hot too.

Fraid so Jonce,

These buggers can get mega hot. Macca wreckons he noticed a MASIVE difference when he had the vents put in his bonnet. Would imagine that James300 has done too since his louvers were done.

Have you still got Cats on your Z? as they let off loads of heat . Park on a dry field in the summer and you'll start a fire!

Ive got vents at the front , middle and back of the bonnet and can see serious heatwaves rising from them when sat in traffic.

After a spin on a warm day the bonnet is actually too hot to touch , how hot must it get under the bonnet , especially with no vents. Thats why i use 10W/60 engine oil in the summer too.

I get this too, well I do when the cars running! That reminds me, must vent my bonnet ready for the summer!!!

Paul Bailey (links) did it but i dont think he's still doing bodywork.

Look on the other sites in the links section^^up there on the right.

Doesn't he specialise in Porridge these days ?

Iv also heard this Rumour i think if Andy is on the same wave length as me!!!

Then again if you wanna release some of the hot air out of your engine bay the best thing to do is to get it out as quick as possible!!!

Macs vents are good as he has said!!!

Iv gone for something a bit different!!!

Fas I really don't like the vents I have on my Z,However they are there for one reason only and that is to draw all that nasty heat out.

They do work very well and also have drip trays so the water that trickles into them does not drip on all those precious electric connections under the Z bonnet.

MAC UR THE MAN!!!

Where do i get these drip trays from as i need 2 for the vents on the side!!!

The big 1 at the front leads directly over the radiator which is good as it wont damage any electrical wiring!!!

Didint you say you wanted to get them changed though!!!

Would think zorsts and cats most likely culprits for heating the transmission tunnel area

I'm retying to remember when I stopped feelng the heat coming fromthe side of the car when I opened my door! Could well have been when the cats came out.

Seemed alot less heat from the transmission tunnel area aswell when got the uprated cooler fitted.

So whats the best cooler to go for?? Noticed Luke at the ZCENTRE did one. Is that reliable?? Ive seen others for treble the price of Lukes and wonder if they are to cheap!?

Been thinking about getting some vents in the bonnet, I get a serious heat haze out of the sides from under the bonnet.

Anyone know where is best to put vents in, cause I would have thought anyway you do it your gonna get a shit load of water in the engine bay with the crap weather we have.

And not only that, if you fit a drip tray which is a good idea, thats kinda obstructing loads of heat from comming out in the first place, any ideas?

Chaps, the heat your talking about, is it near the auto box or/and the bottom section of the stereo compartments? Im getting heat around there with a jap autobox, feel the plastic around the lower stereo compartment and its quite warm..this normal? or knackered!

I'm getting a JUN bonnet soon temp is up to 43-44 deegrees here at the moment so imagine how the z feels, ofcourse i only drive it at night anyways i'll let u guys know what's the difference will be but i ve been told that works real nice.

Matey, i started this thread about heat a while back. If you read the first few replys everyone told me to get an oil cooler upgrade before anything else. Me being me, decided to get a new spoiler etc... before any oil cooler :nono: then 'FRAZZLE' the box burnt out. The answer to your question is yes, your heat will be coming from your gearbox(and exhaust etc..). What im saying is "put a cooler on before its to late!!!". That's if you haven't one on already,if so i'll :x:

I got one for about £90/100 and fitted it myself. Its only a couple of pipes. I think you can get one supplied and fitted for about £150/200. I don't know if you think thats alot but its better than buying another box for about £1500/2000 like me  best person to ask is MAC1. He knows everyone. Good fella!!! Shall i creap some more Mac?? LOL

90/100 doesnt sound too bad where d'you get it from?
