 took my centre panel off today to remove the jap stereo and replace it with my sony. more cable than john holmes. does anyone know if there is an adaptor to fit jap stereo connectors (car side) to the uk connectors (stereo side). and if there is, will the electric aerial still work?

Jase,

Take the stereo end into Halfords, and they may be able to match it up. They've got the AudioLeads book and it has various pics of the plugs in there, so you can match it up, if it's available in this country.

Its not the stereo he needs to take in as thats going in the bin!!!

1. Dont go to halfords!!! A spotty teenager will just look at you blankly!!! :slap:

2. Ask for a Nissan to ISO interface lead (should cost £10 to £15), if they dont know what one is then you have not followed point 1 and you are in Halfords!.

3. the UK an jap interface leads are all the same but.........

4. THE AERIAL CONNECTON IS NOT THE SAME!!! you will need to find a speciallist car radio place or the like for this and it will cost you £15 to £20

With all due respect, i meant that this way he could check that he was getting the correct fitting, i realise that he will be getting a new one, but you cant take the whole bloody car into the shop can you :D

If the Jap and UK ones are identicle, then AudioLeads do this, and you'll have no problem finding an adaptor lead. Same goes for the aerial connector, although mine is a jap spec and its got a normal lead on.

And I realise that Halfords are crap, but I did find that the guy who dealt with me in the Melton Mowbray superstore was very helpfull, cant say that much about the Grantham store though, it all depends on which monkey you end up with :D. Some of us dont live near decent places that offer a wide enough range of auto shops, so we have to make do.

For the Aerial connection jsut get a new jack from maplin (or similar) and put it on the cable will only cost 95p, cheaper than £15.

got the bit. stereo works a treat. have another small niggle now. when it had the oe nissan kit in it, the aerial only used to extend when the radio was selected. now, even with the cd selected the aerial is out. is there a fix or do you just live with it?

You could wire a switch of some kind in. But tbh, i live with it, and I'm sure a lot of others do to .

Glad you got it sorted.

Down if stereo is on standby.

Got your door locks sorted yet?....or you still

gettin' in Dukes of Hazzard style!!

This may sound a bit obvious but its worth checking,

I take it you have an RDS etc radio in it now, if so youve probably got the TA or AF or INFO or one of those things still on, thus the radio is still looking for traffic news etc while youre listening to CDs, turn all the RDS off and the airiel should go down.

If you have used an interface lead you should have no probs, but make sure youce wired the extra earth lead to the body somewhere away from other bits like relays etc, i screwed mine onto the earth on my old foglight relay and when something went wrong with the fogs it did £70 worth of damage to the radio!!!

Good Luck

Gonna have to give that one a miss Tack, look after

my daughter @ w'ends, w'end meets take a bit of

arranging for me, can't make this one!
