Since I've owned this Z I've never seen the temperature readout on the Air-Con display unit.

I assumed that the display was faulty, so got hold of a replacement unit and this one also does not show the readout  So my question is, is there a fault with both these units, or is there an input problem, and where could it be?

Hi Dave,

Is yours a series 2 car? if so it doesn't have the temp readout.

Well I'm glad thats sorted out :( NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come on, surely someone on here can help me out with this one. Do these units go faulty often, or am I looking towards a sensor/power supply fault?

Hi dave

that whole cluster is held on with two srews underneath.

I am assuming the replacement part was reading before you did a swop?

If its electrical have you checked fuses too?

Sorry maybe not a great help.

does the climate work at all, or is the whole thing dead?

Yes mate everything else works fine, it is just the display.

It wasnt a swop, Ive brought this unit, and having spoken to the person, we both beleive that this one is OK.

I've done some checking since posting this, and will be looking at the loom between this unit and the Auto Amp unit, to see if I have a loom fault, or even if I need to replace the amp.

Or if there is someone with a Z near you just put the suspect units on the other car and see what happens. If the display lights up then you know you've got a loom/amp fault. If nothing happens then the display "may" be faulty.

Dave, I should have a spare amp unit if you want me to send it down to test :) LMK ;)

Right got the chance to have a look this afternoon. Following this section, from the service manual,

attachment.php?attachmentid=3319&stc=1

I discovered that I was receiving 6.3 volts at terminals 14 & 17  Now thats a bit high, and could explain why the unit isnt working. I checked 3 times to make sure that 1) I was on the right terminals and 2) thats the voltage I was getting. Also, yes, it's a very good multi-meter, a Fluke 33.

andyduff, looks like your unit is looking promising............btw, what does LMK stand for  sorry, just a bit thick at the mo :D

LMK=let me know LOL ;)

PM me your address and I'll get it down to you m8 ;) I'll have to find it first tho lol
