I have just had the car back after a little dent has been fixed and painted. When I asked last week before the car went in people said yes, polish it to give it protection. Should I do that? Clean as normal and polish? Should I put some Autoglym clear resin top coat on? Or leave it. When I had my old escort repainted they said don't wash it for a few weeks, but when I asked last week on another thread Leonardo said no polish it. I'm not sure what to do now, and it looks like it's going to be a nice day for it. Any more advice?

It depends on how the paint was set. If not done correctly it can take a few weeks before the paint is fully set, unless they used inferred heat lamps on it or put the panels in the oven.

I think this goes back to when bodyshops used cellulose paint which took a few weeks to harden throughly, but with modern paints like 2k etc (which I would think most decent bodyshops use now) that use an activator to harden and then dried in an oven there should be no problem with a wax, should be no need to use a cutting compound tho and I wouldnt as you may ruin the work thats been done.
