Hello guys,

I notice we have been getting some coverage on your site (mostly good but some bad).

Thought I'd firstly say thanks to the members that have given our company a try and of course to those of you who have insured your cars through us.

As some of you will know we have a specialist scheme with Chaucer Insurance Company. They can cater for a large proportion of your vehicles even with mods. The scheme however will not accept every risk. We do seem to score though where the car is a second vehicle and the annual milage is low.

Some of you will have tried us and had no joy for which we are sorry but the scheme is very competitively priced and to keep it this way the insurers have put in place some quite strict underwriting criteria.

Just a few words of warning though. It is usual for insurers to apply quite heavy penalties for cancelling mid term. The scheme has been priced to sell an annual policy on a resticted milage policy and this is what you buy. To keep the costs (and therefore premiums) down the insurers apply harsh cancellation fees. This is mainly to avoid a policy being purchsed just to cover the vehicle for the summer months.

Anyway, please keep the enquiries coming. We can't please all of you we accept but we are pleased we have had some positive feedback.

Regards,

Colin Tidd

Just a quick note to say thanks for the feedback everyone. It is most welcome (good and bad). Even if we can't obtain the right quote for everyone I'm glad the customer service seems to be high.

I was a bit suprised to now be insuring tattoman's car after the less than polite comments above though!

The reason that I went with you in the end wasn't because you were the cheapest ! (I had cheaper quotes from both Adrian Flux and A Plan) ! I went with you because you were the only insurer that would do an AGREED VALUE in the event of theft of my vehicle. I said you were CRAP because you WERE NOT THE CHEAPEST, I am sure that hand on heart you can admit that you have said in the past that someone or some company is CRAP because of the price that they charge. Anyway you got my business in the end I am still not happy with the price but I got the Agreed Value that I wanted. :D

Tatooman,

You wanted insurance with agreed value and houghton offered it the cheapest, so they are the cheapest!

You said you wanted your car as a daily driver so I presume it is your main car, with a lot of miles, they have already said they specialise in low mileage and the zed as a second car!

Your car looks quite modified and you have said it is!

Insurance companies seem to specialise in Niches and unfortunately we are not gonna find an insurance company that will make everyone happy on here, and I am afraid that you are in the minority and come under that bracket!

Houghtons staff have been a pleasure to deal with and understand modified cars and car clubs, and have come out with some great prices, I don't think we can ask for much more!

They are very nice and very polite I did not dispute this I am very happy with the way they dealt with my policy. They were not the cheapest (Generally for a normal policy) just the only option for my circumstances i.e. Agreed Value !!! So I suppose I have to live with my request for an agreed value policy (My fault not theirs). Anyhow enough of this chit chat I have my insurance now, I've paid £773 in full, no more to be said really I am on the road Yipppppeeeeee. :D

 Just like to say, i am just taking a policy out with these guys and find that all these £300+ are really good.

Im 40 got full protected NCB and still being charged £629....... :slap: but hey at least i will be insured....

SWB, T/Turbo 93 Manual...... :D :D :D
