Hi,

Does anyone know what a bodyshop would use for filling any scratches/gouges/chips in plastics before painting. I need to get something 100% smooth.

Thanks

Vijay

Ive seen it done with conventional filler. Sand it right back down then prime and paint as normal.

The bits i've seen done are the dimpled effect plastic like on a Zed, to smooth it all out. Turned out very good as well.

Sounds fairly labour intensive to me - but I need to do something with my stock front spoiler. I was thinking of keeping the dimpled effect, but you may have talked me out of it

The dimpled effect is actually the paint used ;) Its just stone chip paint basically - most bodyshops will soon have that sorted :)

cheers guys. Does anyone know any good sites on paint prep work?

Vijay

A body shop will use a proper plastic filler, its available from your local Brown Brothers and made by Plastic Padding.
