Quick question guys: I need to top up my brake resevoir (it's at the low mark). The top cap on the resevoir says that I must use DOT3 fluid only. However, I can only find DOT4 fluid at my local Harry's and petrol stations. Can I mix these two or do I need to find a place that sells DOT3? What I'd ultimately like is to order some stainless steel brake lines and redo the entire system (i.e., bleed and refill with new fluid). Can someone tell me how much I should expect to pay for these stainless numbers and to best get them.

Now I'm ready to be corrected but, I think that you will find that it's perfectly okay to mix mineral based brake fluid but a big no, no is mixing mineral with synthetic.

PS: Synthetic fluid is clearly marked and about 4 times the price so you're not going to buy it in error

P.S. Might even go the whole hog and lay out on new calipers...although I do like the Nissan logo on mine painted red!

Stainless lines should be no more than about £70 + fitting.

 

Painted calipers - yuk ...

Mine will stay the colour God intended - dark grey annodised aluminium.

Only the Nelson logo Mr. P! Not the whole caliper, that wouldn't be in good taste at all.

Price varies depending upon whether you get chrome, cadnium, stainless, ally or anodised ally fittings. IMO it doesn't matter a flying if you can't see them and they get covered in shite though ...

Sorry but i've got red calipers with silver nissan logos on my silver Z and they look the danglies...
