Agree with most of what duffer said, but 50s are sometimes a mystery, especially recent arrivals.

 

Example: A666 just north of my house - a new 50 appears.

 

"x deaths in y years", etc. Yes, quite probably - that would be the pissheads driving up and down it at 40, not the sober people at 60. Do I see a squad car there on Sunday afternoons to nick a few drink drivers? Do I buggery. Too busy nicking people doing 33mph 50 yards before the NSL limit sign in Belmont. (The buildings have long finished by that point!)

 

I can think of several twisties where I agree with the 50 along it but then find the NSL starts right on a blind bend, or hill, or adverse camber, or similar...

 

I totally agree with roadworks limits - and I have to say the traffic on the M6 round Thirlwell has actually flowed better since the bridge works have been there. Now EVERY morning it's at 35-40 mph... whereas before some morning it would be 40, some it would be 20, some it would be 0-40-0-40-0...

 

I've seen plenty of piccies of what the humble traffic cone does to cars on airfield days!

 

I cannot believe EVERY camera in the country is correctly placed. That would imply that not a single one of the civil servants involved made any mistakes. when placing them. Impossible.

 

The "survey" was clearly a sham.
