Here are some pics of new uprated parts against the stock.

First the pully.

You can see the size difference between them but the most interesting part is the weight. I know they are lighter but I didnt know they where this much lighter.

Stock was 13lb 7.5oz. (About 6.1 Kg)

Unorthodox 1lb 14.6oz (Less than 0.9Kg)

The lighter pully is 14% the weight of the stock, or in other words the stock one is over just over 7 times the weight of the light one.

Greddy Intercoolers

The Greddy intercooler are a little wider. I would say about half an inch or so. However the tank ends are metal, so they too will have a slight cooling effect on the air, a lot more than plastic anyway. The tank ends are also larger so the air is not restrictied as quick, this must help the flow.

The stock intercoolers look slightly higher, but it is misleading as if you look, the stock intercoolers are infactstanding on the tank ends and welding.

Other things I noticed about them, if you tap them, they ring like a crystal.

So there you go people who are getting the Greddy Intercoolers. They do look very nice and good quality.

Looking good, are you replacing the turbo's while it's out?

They turbos have been sent off to get a complete overhaul with new uprated parts. The only part original left on my turbos apparently will the the housing. Its got a 360º thrust bearing racing it on it to help spool up and to stand the abuse.

Sweeeeeeeeeet! Blimey - the difference is weigh of the pulleys is huge!

Bet you cant wait tell the bits are on

Pete

Stu, That has really shocked me,is the Greddy one taller than the stock one? Oh and what is the thickness of the core?

I think you're supposed to get 2.7bhp/lb of weight off the crankshaft.

I think you're supposed to get 2.7bhp/lb of weight off the crankshaft.
The only downside is that there is a definate vibration the car is not

as smooth, as with

the stock pulley and you can hear the difference aswell , there is

like a real growl to the engine lowere down the rpm

you can hear the difference aswell , there is

Deffo, one you hit around 3000 - 3500 rpm it sounds really snarly! :hyper:

:hyper: :hyper: :hyper: I really can't wait to see the results of your rebuild, true B.o.B stlye :D

Not alot init apart from the core thickness,I think the stock ducting should fit ok with a little trimming, check these out Stu ducting is a must on these.

They look simaliar hight as the Stillen ones. I have heard complaints that the top part of the Stillen ones dont get any air as they are blocked by the bumper a lot. The ducting is a must for them, but they charge a rediculas amount for a bit of plastic.

I went with the Greddy ones because on TT.net people say the Stillen and Greddy work about the same, but the Greddy works better with the stock bumper.

As long as you have ducting on the Stillen, then that would not be a problem but yea $300 +tax is bloody stupid for a bit of plastic.

STILLEN intercoolers offer increased surface area - 35% over stock, the largest available for the Z. The Stillen ones are bigger than the Greddy, but back to back testing proved there was not a lot of differance in the charge temp.
