Im in the process and stripping the engine down after spinning a shell on the crank a couple of weeks ago.

I figured that while im at it I may as well upgrade as much as I can while im there and get some good high power out of it.

Question is what do I get/need? Apart from a Superdrager Cat back, Blitz Intake and ZCenter downpipes shes standard.

Advice people, and lots of it i want to join the 400-450bhp boys at least :)

Buy Kirbz's bits if he's not sold them yet - see for sale - he's just abandoned his project for mega power!

Crank or wheel bhp? Big difference really! You're gonna need at the very minimum:-

555cc/min injectors - ~£700

Uprated Intercoolers - ~£750+

Uprated turbos - ~£1500+ (very rough figure)

Custom ECU - ask around ;)

Boost controller - ~£400

Uprated clutch - ~£500

If you're talking wheel bhp then you'll also need aftermarket exhaust manifolds and ported heads. Also the turbo's will need to be bigger.

Another aspect to think about is engine internals. Forged pistons are a good idea for safety but not 100% necessary IMO - as long as the car is well tuned then you should be ok. Don't forget to clean out the flashing from the water ways in the block too.

There's more I'm sure but my heads cabbaged at the moment...

CheerZ,

yeah ive been thinking of internals seeing as im stripping it down and replacing probably at least 1 rod, may as well go for uprated rods and pistons too.

what about intakes? worth getting a dual pop on there and polished plenums.

was also thinking about flywheel too

any suggestions on tubs on the Z what works for good power, not to bothered about a bit more lag than stock.

Dollar is mega weak at the moment to the pound too, $1.88 - £1, but anyone any experience getting stuff from the states?

thanks

The exchange rate is abour $1.88 to the £ but you buy something on your CC and you will only get $1.80 or so.

I have spent a few thousand on parts from the US and I budgeted using that exchange rate and to my shock, the exchange rate my CC used was about 4-6% worse off.

Z1 wiseco pistons, 500

Pe1420 turbos 2000

555 injectors 500

Doolz intake, with apexi intakes 350ish

Iconel manifolds 1200

Greg Dupree downpipes 300ish

Get rid of the cats

Custom chip ????

Ported and polished heads, three angle valve job 400ish

uprated clutch I like my OS gilken and flywheel 1000ish

1500 on a decent set of wheels and tyres to stick the power down

500 on a set of R33 discs and calipers

200ish on a set of suspension techniques anti roll bars

200ish on a Z1 radiator

Thats 9K, that leaves a grand for a blueprinted engine rebuild from CTM in ILford!
