hi peeps,just bought a radar detector and wondered where the best place to mount it?would like it permanant so can the ciggy plug be cut off and wired in some place else?

Mine's mounted to the windscreen, rests above the rear view mirror and is permanently wired into the courtesy light circuit. Only takes a few minutes and two blobs of solder and you're away. Very visible to the driver, minimal wiring, out of sight of thieving scumbags and gives the best all round reception.

Windscreen would be the best place to mount it, if you dont mind it being in your face a bit.

Mines on the dash, far right corner where the little flat bit is.

Run the wires in the instrument panel cover / dash joint, and scotch lock to something in the footwell.

Here's mine - wiring could be neater if I was a perfectionist... :)
