Hey Fellas,

Just a quick one,

Had my 300zx for over a year now, its had an ECU upgrade by 'Kakimoto racing' in japan - for the first time today i took it to the end of 2nd gear but i noticed that it didnt hit any rev limit???,

To make sure i wasn't imagining it i tested it in 1st gear from a set of lights and at 8500rpm i bottled out!, it sounded like an F1 car! I thought they limited at about 7000???

The thing is the rev gauge only goes upto 9000rpm and the engine never hit a limiter, is it common for this to be removed???

Thanks Tom

Err, I wouldn't rev that far on a stock engine if I were you, especially with stock injectors!!

Is it an auto? I have seen some jap maps with limits efectively removed (set to 11,500rpm).

I guess they think if it's all loaded up on a bend or you've got a good drift going you don't want the cut. I'd stick to ~7.2-7.3k rpm to be safe.

I think the popular JWT chips increase the rev limit but only by about 200rpm. But free to rise over 8500!?! Hope youve got good oil Tom!! ;)

Well i thought it was abit out of the norm!, i dont know what power im running but it has a boost controller on it - when i first turned it on about a year ago it was set to 1bar, ive tryed running it at 1.1bar but it soulds like shite (det).

Also when i got it, it had a racing harness in the seat!, so its definately been intended for the strip!!

Its a manual twin turbo - and it goes really well, the rev gauge would definatly go off the clock!

So are we saying not to go over about 7500rpm??

Tom

i suppose the only person who knows what the engine can handle is the guy who uprated it. id never redline mine cos of petrol!, but then mine is auto.

racing harness!!
