The OE ariel is always going up and down as I turn the stereo on and off.

I guess it would be kind to grease it.

But when Halfords greased the ariel on my 200SX, it never quite worked right again.

Is grasing the ariel a good idea? Is there a certain sort of grease you should use?

I'm waiting for a comedy double-entendre answer...

Good advice though gents; I'll put some WD40 on it.

You should really use a dry lubricant like graphite or one of those silicon lubricant sprays that can be used on machinery.

WD40 will often collect dust and make the problem worse

....hence the reason probably why the ariel on your 200 didn't work. However, if you get someone to turn the ignition of and on while you are working the WD40 or lubricant in, you can pretty much get full use of the ariel back.

The ariel on my dad's maxima would not budge it just use to make loads of noise, till we spent a good 20 minutes with WD40. inally got full movement out of it again.

good luck.

cos

WD40 worked on mine.

KY is NOT a good lubricant despite vicious rumours!

Use the WD40 to clean all the crud off it, not to lubricate it.

A lubricant will just collect more.
