I just had my long overdue 4 wheel alignment done (Ive had the car for 8 months and kept putting it off) - the front was way out, equivalent to about 7mm!!!

They did a great job, I watched them do it, sat right next to the car, watched the tv monitor as they made the adjustments, bringing the on screen numbers from the "red" into the "green". They give you a computer printout of the before and after settings.

I would highly recommend them to anyone in the Derby-Nottingham area.

Their details are:

The Alignment Centre

Church View Industrial Estate

Church Street

Old Basford

Nottingham

Cash or cheque only.

Cheers

Probably a silly question this, but is getting your wheels aligned the same as having your tracking done?

Hi John,

I'm going to be up in Nottingham either tomorrow or Friday and wouldn't mind making an appointment. Before I do though, how much did they charge - PM me if you want to.

Thanks mate!

Yes, wheel alignment is commonly know as tracking, but camber angle should also be checked and adjusted if necessary. Places like Kwik Fit, who advertise as "4 wheel alignment" specialists are a load of cr*p, they say they do 4 wheel alignment, but when you question them, they admit that they cannot adjust the back, they claim they adjust the fronts in relation to the back???

This place in Nottingham have all their calibration certificates on display, they said the 4 corners of the hydraulic lift has to be within 1 mm, otherwise the readings will be inaccurate.

Cheers,

John

kwik fit/national tyres etc are a big no no

would you let an 18 year old kid mess with your engine??

potentially your letting someone who aint got a clue, apart from hes probaly been taught on a fiesta, mess with your pride and joy, and maybe your life

funny some people will fix a split wiper blade, yet ignore a bubble/split

worn tyre which your gonna take to over 100mph

for all you guys in nottingham i'd steer clear of the above and follow dixonjohns link

my car seems to pull to left quite a lot on certain roads, i had new tires fitted and balenced and it didnt cure the problem, think i might give these guys a try.

Beermonster.

Thats why I paid them a visit in my previous car and they cured it by setting up the adverse camber.

These guys do the alignment for the local main dealers, merc and porsche etc.

Cheers

i just had 4-wheel laser alignment done, thy had th same system where u can see it all on screen, my toes were all over th place, sorted that out but front cambers negative 2 degrees! apparantly because my cars been lowered i cant do anything to correct that on th stock setup, (think i need adjustable arms)

cost me £70!!!! woulda been £130 if thy could fix th camber as well!!!!

The rear is camber is adjustable while the front you have to buy no top links to correct it.
