Really stupid question But where are the o2 sensors

Are they the ones by the cats and if so how much, oh and whats the factual point of having them

The O2 sensors basically sniff your exhaust! If its too rich the ecu weakens the fuel mix to the engine. If its too weak the opposite. Dont know the exact frequency of sniff but its pretty frequent.

Sorry no idea how much. But I noticed Halfords selling "univeral" O2 senors - probably universal to every car made except a Z!

Warren, can't answer the "how much?" question but I have a number for a supplier that sells them. Apparently they come in different wiring configurations, this company do 1, 2, 3 and 4 wired jobbies.

If you want the number I'll get it for you tonight mate.

I seem to remember in one of my lessons from Pete that the O2 sensors work on a closed loop system and are essentially there to assist in emmision regs. Once over about 2000 rpm they do nothing. (But I could be coinfusing them with something else - It's difficult to keep up with Pete when he's on a roll)
