Just got a set of new tyres for the rear - car feels odd for handling and a bit leery!!! Whats the rule of thumb for bedding them in to remove the coating thats on new tyres?

Featured Replies

I have never had the handling trait you describe from new tyres, but I would take it easy for a few miles, maybe 25 to 50? But are you sure they suit the Z?

I have.

A few set of tyres I got on the Z, they where bloody awful for the first 100-200 miles.

Tyres usually have a shiny glaze on them when new which causes them to be slippy. Hence why F1 cars put scrubbed tyres on during a race. They grip better

A good wheels spin will get them worn in quicker.

lol yes, a little 'stationary acceleration' should speed up the process :D

new tyres are covered in silicone release agent which does need to be scrubbed off.

My Yoko AVS Sports crapped the life out of me for the first few miles, the first 200 meters were really sketchy. LOL :D

whell spin to do the rears, fornt not so easy though.

A car park without bollards is probably the best answer, bit naughty though.

Might be worth checking the pressures, most sh1tfit tyre places put them about 28 psi which makes your back end feel like a soggy sack of sausages!!!
