Front Speakers

I have the standard Nissan radio unit and don't get any sound from the front speakers. I pretty sure it's not the radio since I have swapped it with another and get exactly the same behaviour.

I've check the resistances from the conector that plugs into the radio and get 4 ohms each side so it looks like the speakers and loom are OK.

I also get a bit of a hum from the front passenger side speaker even with the radio switched off.

I thought that the body shop might have disconnected something when they replaced the driver side door, but then I would have still expected to get some sound from the passenger side speaker

Anyone got ideas because I'm preplexed as hell.

Sorry m8, but it looks like you've gota take the door panels off and 'Bell' out the wires. If you haven't got an ohm meter you can pick one up from most car shops, I think even Argos do one, they arnt too expensive, and well worth the money for the future.

Also while you've got the door panels off, you can check the condition of the speakers, ie see if the polyproperlene flexy bit has had it ( techno talk :D).

When I took mine off I was surprised to fine that they had disintergrated, even though the sound was ok  so the exercise was worth it.

If you want anymore help with this give me a pm

I upgraded mine at this point, used some jbl speakers (can't remember which),but had to do some cutting to get 'em to fit, sounds much better

than the standard ones. Bit annoying that you have to remove the

whole doorcard to get to 'em, would've thought that the speaker

cover would come off to gain access!

Have to agree that spec speaker aren't that good, upgrades can make a huge difference - and the speaker cable is tiny too - upgrade this too and you can really hear the difference!
