Help finding engine number!

I have looked around my engine and cannot see it anywhere. Can someone tell me where i can find it please. IT's a 94 tt import if thats any help.

    it should be on the panel at the front of the engine bay. Its also on the top of the firewall right behind the engine.

    Have looked, all i can see is chassis and model number, no engine number. it should be stamped on the engine somewhere. anyone know?
