Can I just ask if your alarm ever closes the central locking when you're in your car and you turn on the ignition. I know it has this feature but mine only does it now and again (I'm sure this feautre is turned off). It sometimes does it when the engine is running and the door is opened, then closed.

can be a right sod if your outside the car scraping the windows, its freezin cold and you hear the THUNK of the central locking

Yup to all but mine has never failed to lock the doors when they are closed but has never locked the doors when one is open. Thought that was pretty clever by the way.....

...especially when you're in Cornwall and the spare keys are in Sussex!

I've got the Max Power MP5 fitted (which I understand is a badged version of the Toad 606) It also activates the central locking a few seconds after the key is turned in the ignition to the first position, but not neccessarily with the engine running. If a door is open then it does not lock.

It's supposed to be some sort of anti-hijack safety thingy....... It opens all the locks when you turn off the ingition.

My alarm (not Toad) used to do this and I turned it off after it locked whilst I was on the outside one morning. Fortunately, I was at home, had my house keys in my pocket and the spare car keys inside the house .....

cheers guys. I know the alarm has the option but what I am saying is that 9 times out of 10 it wont lock the doors when you turn the ignition on, but every now and again it will.

On a bit of a more helpful note, my one did this too. I took off the drivers side door card and found that the bracket that was connecting the soleniod to the 'rod' that operates the central locking had come loose. I tightened it up and have had no probs since. HTH.

;)

It's not on my Z but I'll have a look under the door card anyways.

Jezz, can you PM me the details on how to turn the function off.

Cheers

Vijay

here you go...

The 606 will lock the doors 12 seconds after the ignition is switched on as long as all the doors are closed. If a door is open then it won`t do it.

If the alarm locks the doors while you are out of the car then check your alarm.

1) open drivers door only and arm alarm, you should get three bleeps from the siren to tell you there is a fault.

2) do the same with the passenger door.

If you only get one bleep from the siren with a door open then that door is not protected by the alarm.

3) Open the bonnet and you should get 5 bleeps on arming.

4) Open the boot and do the same, should give either 3 or 5 depending on where it has been tapped into.

So basically if you only get 1 bleep from the siren with any door, boot or bonnet open then whatever is open is not covered.

Hi Bob,

So with any door open and you try to arm the alarm, what should you get? 3 bleeps = fault, 1 beep = door is not covered. (I get 1 bleep with any door open).

Vijay

Vijay, if you get 1 bleep with a door open you have a problem.

1 bleep on arming= all doors closed and system set

3 bleeps= door open, system will set but ignore door circuits

1 bleep with door open=door not covered by alarm.

Some fitters don`t bother connecting the doors, just rely on ultrasonics.

Another test is switch the alarm off and the LED should flash green, open any door and LED changes colour. If it doesn`t the alarm isn`t seeing the door.

Bob

Feck in hell. This alarm is 10 times better than the shíte META I have got on mine. I will see how much money I have left after the car is finished and I will probably get one from you Bob.

OK, well the led changes colour when you open the doors but I still get 1 beep when the door opens (this is why everyone should get Bob to fit their alarms, I didn't (cos he couldn't make it down to London) and this is what happens :( )
