Ok the big day finaly arrived,as i pulled into the farm road at 8.30am Petes behind me in his Supra,he commented 5 mins later how impressive Z looks when behind one,off to a great start then :D The fuel regulator was ditch for a FSE Powerboost Valve, after a few headaches as to where to fit the thing were off and running with the Apexi SAFC II,wired up,checked out,now for Pete to sort his magic on Dyno, come 3pm all done,to say i was mentaly knackerd would be an understatement, after a total of around 10 runs or more to tune up who would'nt be!!.

Results,

At last Dyno 294.9bhp rwhp,detting at 10.46,Torque 272ft/lb. :(

Now,360.1 bhp rwhp,Torque 369.9ft/lb :D

what you see is a gain overall in torque of 107ft/lb,Pete and his partner were well impressed and excited about this, and when driving home i could see why, bloody brilliant,so much more grunt, pulls like a train,as for the bhp,i decided with Petes advice that 360 was enough, and without Optimax and timing adjustment it was not worth the extra stress, but it should reach 400bhp going down this route.

On the graph for PSI you will notice that to maintain 16psi i have to have the controller set for 17.4 which it reaches then tails off slowly to 16 psi, this is down to the EVC5,aparently to cure this the Apexi boost controller is capable of sorting this, but its not realy a big problem.Very impressed with my SAFC II though, very clever kit.

Spool up of turbos start at around 2000rpm,reaching 360.1bhp at 4000rpm,like it ;)

So i am very happy,The Z flies, its well within its stress points,Pete and his partner did a excellent job, very proffesional, and the price was brilliant, especially with my 10% 300zx.co.uk club members "DISCOUNT"(thought i would throw that in for the non paying members :D )Top Work,Top Recomendation

Nice one Tony , good to see your car starting to put the power down that is should do mate.

Mine will be going back up to Thor very shortly for a little fine tunning , can't wait now.

Tony where did you end up fitting the FSE valve in the end mate ????

The price was £362,after members discount of course :D,i will post pic of the FSE location later today.

Tony

Excelent. I am going to go there when my engine is finally together and run in.

I think you better change your sig now. :D

Should say THOR Custom ECU, not JWT! :D

Where are they Tony?

and what did they have to tweak to get these results?

Nice one Tony,am pleased it's all going to plan, well done Mr Thor;)

Its where the group RR was last month. Its in Kenilworth, just south of Coventry

Tony, IMO you will release a fair bit more torque by moving the VTC release point further up the revs. You now have less back pressure in the exhaust so can maintain large valve overlap for longer...

Excellent Tony, pleased it's sorted!

Did he actually map the ECU, or fiddle with the AFC to adjust it?

Here's a pic of the location of the FSE.

As for the ecu,now that was not touched,i will see if its worth going down this route later, maybe different chip mapped for mine.

I get your drift andy about the VTC,will ponder over that.

The SAFC sorted it nicely, lovely kit.

One thing, the revs come up so bloody fast,so so much improvement with the Z ,still getting used to it :D

Tony

Nice one tony, cant wait till i take mine down there for them to map my beast up!!

Well done mate, am I right in thinking the FSE is an uprated fuel pressure regulator?

Hey Tone,

Does this mean you'll be coming up North to our meeting on Sunday to show your machine off?

Sounds like it will be a really good day! - check the events and meetings section

Well done mate, am I right in thinking the FSE is an uprated fuel pressure regulator?

Yup - also adjustable pressure ;-)

Very impressive stuff! Nice one TC ;) Not tuned in the ECU tho

does this mean tony c now has the most powerful zed on the furum at present? i mean with the evidence to prove it?

Another great horsepower figure. Well done mate

Out of how many members on here, how many can show evidence of the HP they claim? I claim my one has 0bhp because it in little bags at the moment. :D ;)

Cant wait to see you run it at the pod mr C, when you going next?

Well i keep putting meets/shows on my calender and its filling up,now have some weekends with more than one event,so some will have to be ditched, seems this year that there are even more Jap shows etc on,would like to go to Santa Pod when the ZClub drag challenge meets are on but even 3 of the 6 rounds clash with other events etc.

As for coming up to the North west meet, was thinking of maybe coming, but its a bit far,not to much of a problem, but its this weather i am not to sure about, might be nice on way up,then change later in day and snows  dont fancy coming back in that,we all know what Zs are like in that shit, would like to pop in and see my nan in Golborne though :)

Will check the forcast for tommoro up there, infact this morning we have had a small amount of snow here!

My dyno graph from last year @ T&M autos in Colchester, Essex: (354 rwhp)

http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=70

... there's six runs traced on the graph, the dip which is around 5 - 6K RPM is clutch slip on my previous clutch, ACT with street disc.

Since then, I've replaced the knackered turbo (above graph was produced with only one fully working blower), and got an HKS triple plate clutch, so ought to take it back for another go on the dyno, as I can feel the car is making a lot more power than before.

Note to mods: Can we have a dyno section? Or better still, a link from our the members details page?

Tony... good results mate!

Simon.

Can someone explain the AFR petrol graph to me.

What's it mean ?.

also is the blue line the new fpr ?

I took my Zed to T&M's a couple of years ago, long before I spent dosh on it and made about 100 less RWHP LOL!! Your RWHP is really good. They're dyno must be as old as time itself, but it does serve it's purpose for tuning anyhew. Just don't go there in the summer when the local sewerage pit is kicking up (phew!!!)

Totally agree that we should have a Dyno section or something where it's nice'n easy to see everyones charts, now wer're getting em in. Perhaps we can start getting some of the other car clubs a little nervouse :D :D
