I'm thinking of having my car chipped and upping the boost to 12psi from stock (9psi is it???), bearing in mind I use my car as a daily drive so it needs to be reliable.

Question: I am better getting a boost jets, or going to the additional expense of a boost controller so I can turn the boost down for the daily drive? Also, with the possibly boost controller group buy that’s going on, am I better going for the Profec e 01 or is this a bit of overkill and the Profec B will do, or is there maybe a better option? I'm also slightly worried about having the Screen for the Profec e 01 on display, some fecker may break in thinking it's a TV.

Or am I better leaving it the **** alone?

Mods I have: Mongoose Cat-Back exhaust, Induction kit, Trust Intercoolers, the exhaust still have the Cat's in and the engine has 110K. UK Manwell car.

Any opinions (or just post the normal abuse :D:D:D)

12psi you should be ok on boost jets IMO. You will get boost spikes but only small. Boost controllers do a lot more than just up the boost though ;) They actually give you better spool up times and hold the boost for longer, higher up the rev range. Lovely :)

Profec E-01 - I am working on an idea for mounting this atm ;) Who needs vents anyway? :D

Abuse to come later..... :D

I suggest that u go for an electronic boost controller. Profec b is simplier than the e01.Check out what the features on them and decide what suits u best. If at the end u buy the profec b a great add on would be the trigger boost buttom.

Faster spool up, now that does sound good.

I assume if I add any boost controller I would need to add an aftermarket boost gauge anyway?

No;)

No;)

But advisable :D

But if u add a manual boost controller or boost jets then is more advisable

You get 1 built into the Profec e

Cool, that is handy, so there's no need to fit one extra, that should save a few quid.

If I were to do my car all over again I think I would stick with boost jets espeacially if your only looking for 12psi , but then again in the rain its nice to turn it down and when your having a play its nice to turn it up , the boost controllers Chris is doing is good value for money and to be honest you don't need something to complicated as that's really as far as you are gonna mod , not to mention the fact it will confuse you Mike   :D

I like idea of being able to tun it up and down.

If thats the case there's only one answer - speak to Chris@getgreddy :D

Sounds like a plan, just need a few more buggers for the group buy :(

I got a pair of 1.0mm boost jets giving 12psi for the wet, and another pair of 0.8mm boost jets giving 15psi and big fun :D:D:D

Doesn't sound very convenient! How do you swap between them? In it a bonnet up job?

Yep its a 15 minute bonnet up job. I find I'm in the engine bay cleaning, polishing, fiddling anyway, so its not much hassle :)

Go for the boost jets Mike - so much cheaper! I've been running mine for about 3 years at over 14psi and never felt the need to "turn it down". You just use the loud pedal to suit the conditions. Would still advise a boost gauge so you can keep an eye on things - mine only cost about £30 and works fine.

PS. Still running stock UK chip with no detonation.. :hyper:

I thought your's had turned into a 'smoke machine'! How many miles have you done?

Is this what Baggin's was talking about at the last Reading meet?

Herman, will you have yours done b4 the next meet (march 9th,i think!).

Would be good to see what difference it makes.

Nah, I won't have it done by then, Ryan should have his car for the next one, now that should be quick!

funny you should say that I ran mine at 15psi for the first time today and I am very happy with the tubs and performance there putting out , well up on the old auto tubs ;) :D

this is where a boost gauge is essential because Mike might get a completelly different PSI as you were getting Pete with the same size jets , its a case of trying a few out to get the desired effect
yep it sure was :D

Yeah, but nobody was listening :D
