After having the engine taken out and back in the aircon clutch is not engaging. I think its electrical. Does anyone know where the wires connect to. I found a black earth wire hanging off the compressor but it looks like its been hanging there for years - loads of corrosion and crap on it. Is there a fuse? how can you test the relay? Mines a 90.

cheers

It may just need regassing.

I have the same problem, and according to previous posts the clutch wont operate if its low/nil gas in the system.

Funny you say that, after my engine was out the same thing no aircon (f%$# italians)

There is a washer & nut that screws onto a thread on the front of the compressor. This holds the electro nagnetic clutch in place and I know a few cases (including me) where this washer & nut falls off!

Check to make sure it's still there!

Less than about 30psi means the compressor locks out. The low pressure lockout switch is down by the receiver drier can thingy at the LHS of your oil coolers when seen from under the front bumper.

Think if the engines been out they would disconnect the pressure hoses at the compressor and poof no gas! A proper job should have emptied the gas first instead of sending it to the ozone layer. Get it recharged as once moisure is in the system you get rot from the inside. See posts on air
