Hi

Just been thinking (ouch!). when we are talking about Idle in an Auto, is that when the transmission is in 'N', or is it when in 'D'?. I say this because when in 'N' she idles at about 900-1000 Rpm but when in 'D' she idles at about 700 Rpm

Applogies for being dense.

Kia,

normal idle in nuetral is 900 / 1000 rpm i think the reason yours drops to 700 in D is to do with the torque convertor and is probably normal , i had an auto vectra ( yeuch )

as a company car and it was the same , i dont think you have a problem

stebbs

Kia as Stebbs said its the tourqe converter. Your Zed will creep along at idle in drive, presumably you've either got the handbrake on (not good) or the footbrake (better) so the engine power is being sapped.

Thanks guys. I just wasn't sure if 1000 Rpm in Neutral was a bit high as I am all ways hearing people quote 700 Rpm. My mind is now at rest.

Fvck that. I don't want to change gears. I am a lazy fecker...

Kia u might find the engine revs higher when the heater is on & in D or N

Your first Ques; thats normal for the revs to do that.

Arthur

Idle in neutral should be 750/800 , 1000 is too high IMO. (1000 with AC on yes)

In drive it'll drop to about 600/650 i think.
