Do i have a boost leak? I get whistling sounds as soon as the boost starts to build and it pulls a bit then loses power then pulls then loses power then pulls and keeps pulling! also i noticed blue smoke as i was backing into works carpark, is this just oil burning off dew to the rebuild (only started running the car last night (done 150km so far) ) or is it the dreded rear seals going?

Right been out in it again, now the whisle is there all the time you pulling away accelerating and there is a well what feels like a missfire when you give it a boot full anyone know whats wrong??

If it's just been rebuilt then...

a) Something might have been left loose/misaligned

b) Why are you booting it? Don't various bits need running in?

Does sound like a boost leak though - most likely one of the smaller / more obscure hoses was simply not reconnected!

Can you hear the whistle when you rev it at standstill?

So long as the revs aren't sent too far over 4000 and there's no high gear labouring going on then some boost will actually help the rings bed in quicker. However, I steered clear of too much boost when running mine in, since I was overfuelling on boost before, and thats the last thing you want on a newly bored engine, since you encourage glaze formation.

MTL - how is the car now mate?

Cheers
