I am planning to arrange a karting event as follows :

Location : Buckmore Park, near Maidstone, Kent (15 mins from M25). It's a 1.2 km track with three great overtaking opportunities.

Format : 15 minute practice + 1 hour endurance race

Karts : Honda twin engine (avg lap speed 52 mph)

Drivers : One male, one female in each team - no exceptions. No driver can drive less than 25 minutes of the hour

Cost : £95 per kart

After bitter past experience, I'll only be booking for those who have got money in my account so if you're a 'maybe' then I'll be looking for money up front and I'll then refund if I can replace you.

I did a similar event earlier this week and it was excellent fun.

Before I go and book, can you post on here if you're a yes.

And can we please try to not let this post degenerate into www.womendriversarecrap.com !

Dave

P.S. The track officials are very strict about driving disciplines so if other half's are nervous they don't need to be. Mine was very apprehensive before we went but loved every minute of it.

P.P.S. I am inviting the Supra guys (and gals) as well - let's be mature about this please ...

Shame the one male, one female in each team thing might be a problem for some of us frown.gif

Is this that fancy track we were talking about, then im defo up for this.

Must just convince vanessa to not get in everyones way.

When would you be looking at it dave?

  • Author

Yes Warren, it's a great track. Outdoor with some really great corners / cambers / uphill / downhill sections.

Re the difficulty of male / female, I'm sure we can co-ordinate some friends of other halves somehow. If you'd like to do it but need a partner (!) then post on here and maybe others can see if they can get female volunteers.

Not sure when Warren, probably a couple of months time, given how long these things always take.

Would useful to know if anyone couldn't make it if it was a weekday evening (we raced under floodlights this week) as that could be booked much sooner than a weekend I am sure.

Dave

Weekday evening would be a bit hard given the location - for some of us anyway... It'd be quite late by the time I got there for example.. (From Slough).. Rush hour traffic and all that..

So is this turning into a dating forum as well as a ZX appriciation society. wink.gif When is it planned for. I live near to Slough so would be well up for it.

Tim

This is not a post to find out who of us are really lony gits is it.

Day or night weekend or weekday is fine for me, considering i dont do anything lol

definitely up for this as well.

why is weekday evenings a real problem though ?

surely a half day holiday for something that is planned well in advance isn't going to too difficult to arrange if need be ?

whatever, Nick and I are in.

nice idea with supra guys as well, get everyone on track with identical equipment...

Dave also assures me that all karts were well prepared, and noone complained about having a bad one, which is a very frustrating problem...

Ahhh craig that just means you will have no excuses to be so slow lol

Im betting my wife will cause the biggest pile up in Karting history

John,

I can certainly ask - and if they don't then I can suggest that they should ! I'll let you know once I've got enough people to start looking at booking. Would be great if you two could make it.
