Do I need to replace the shocks & springs cause the cars feels saggy on the rear over bumps and lumps feels as if the ass end is wobbling side to side. Any ideas on where to get shocks and springs from????????

cheers

You sure it's only the rear end ? I read that afr approx 50 k the front springs & bushings start to wear out sending the wheels into adverse camber... have a look at the front tyre and see if they're more worn out on the inside of the track. Will have to get mine sorted before forking out on new rubber....

I replaced all four of my standard shocks with Tokico adjustables at about 47K. What a difference. I didn't know for certain that the originals were knackered, I just expected them to be wearing out and wanted better shocks. When they were taken off, two were leaking and would almost certainly have failed the MOT anyway.

mines on about 55k and like I said wearing out on the inside of the front tyres, are front springs and bushings the cure or do I need to look at shocks all round too?

God you're getting it in the neck from me tonight, last night shift tomorrow so will be quiet then !

Adam - springs will make the car sag, shocks will make it bouncy...

Short answer huh smile.gif

Get some new springs and the camber should go back to being correct - new bushes isn't a bad idea too as a matter of course on an ageing car..

New shocks will firm up the ride..

If you get lowering springs (say the Eibach .8" ones) you'll need a camber corrector kit - either adjustable (Stillen make these) or fixed (300Degree make ones set up for the .8" drop)

Jonny,

check the play in the HICAS rods as well!

Jack up the rear and try to wobble the wheels.

There shouldn't be any play there.

Anyone know or have ideas on where to purchase shocks & springs??????? don't want lowering springs cause the car is low enough already.

cheers Jon...............

So if you want to change Shoks+Springs+Bushes...

What make do you suggest guys?...

And what could be the cost?

Do you have to buy a certain kind if you car is between 300 and 400 bhp?

Thanks

Well im going for ground controll adjustable suspension, but i think generally

Eibach Springs, KYB Shock gotrice Does them

Try checking your tyre pressures.

This makes a massive difference to the handling, low pressure and the car wobbles all over the place.

AndyP,

You may now this, the Tokico shocks come with a lifetime guarantee.

Have they replaced them for you???

G

Sorry, maybe I didn't make it clear. My originals were leaking the new Tokico's are fine.

Really? In the United States, they only come with a one year warranty. We get shafted!

What are you driving? Reason being....

If you are in a TT UK spec(can't be arsed to check the posts) try pulling the handbrake up one click...one click only!!!

Z's for the UK have the US adjustable suspension in place but no switch like the Yankee boys got!

Pulling the handbrake up one click, activating the brake light on the dash will activate the actuators on the rear shocks sending them into "stiff" mode!

This is a good way to diagnose HICAS problems, or shock?

My car was doing this, when it went into a reasonable Nelson Mandela the top geeZer enlightened me to this and proved that my rear shocks were KO'd! Pulled handbrake up one click and all was less crabby e.g. skipping to the left going over a slight bump! Does work...most aren't aware that they have this feature!
